Halloween Costumes?

Post by Linna Heartbooger »

Anyone else still like to dress up for Halloween?

If so, what'll you be this year?!? (Or what costume would you like to tell yourself that you'll make?)

Last year, I had the idea for the BEST costume ever and how I was gonna do it... Marge Simpson. I thought I had the ideas worked out for how I was gonna make it... never did though.

This year, my dream costume would be Katniss Everdeen (as "the girl on fire," except without the real fire.) from "The Hunger Games." :D

Or what are people's fond or not-so-fond memories of their costumes from Halloweens past? (I think that as a kid, I made multiple "creative" costumes which required me to explain who/what I was supposed to be. to everyone.)
"People without hope not only don't write novels, but what is more to the point, they don't read them.
They don't take long looks at anything, because they lack the courage.
The way to despair is to refuse to have any kind of experience, and the novel, of course, is a way to have experience."
-Flannery O'Connor

"In spite of much that militates against quietness there are people who still read books. They are the people who keep me going."

One year, I got a Casper the Friendly Ghost costume and had Mom put an "a" after Casper's name. So I could be a girl ghost, right? Yeah. Didn't work. "Oh look, it's Casper!" :(

This year I am going double Martian. Marvin the Martian for the quick-prep parties. And for the big party day (29th), I will be going through extensive preparations to become the Martian Manhunter:

I was going to be Wonder Woman, but decided against it. Next year, maybe.

Rachael from Blade Runner is still in the running. Just need to find an old black pencilskirt/suit combo. I can fashion the crazy neck thing from a black silk tie (albeit it'll take a bit of work). The hair will be the hardest part. She has victory rolls, which I can play with, but I think the hairstyle requires bangs which I do not have.

Otherwise, Princess Bubblegum from Adventure Time.

My wife had volunteered us both to attend a Halloween costume party and insists that we both wear something.
I considered making a "comic collection" costume made from some of my least favorite second copies of comics. It would probably be just books side by side in rows front and back and around the legs and arms until I ran out of room.
comic collectors would probably frown at my use of the books but I have probably 25 or 30 second and third copies of some really crappy books that I don't mind sacrificing for the effort.
If not that we're going to buy M&M costumes. Mine will be the blue guy. :-)

My favorite adult costume (that I did not wear) is still the guy who showed up at the party in a black turtleneck and black slacks, with bagels tied to himself everywhere. He said he was...

...wait for it...

...a cat bagler.

One year I went as my boss. I shaved a bald spot on my head & everything.

Thanks, Rigel. I will see if I can get that excuse to work... ;)

I'm gonna wear a Martian mask over another Martian mask - just to see the faces of people when I take off the first mask at midnight.

That's really funny, Rigel.

People don't dress in costumes here. The companies really try to force it, but people don't do it.

You saw me at E-Fest. My hair's recovered :D (That pic was in 2008)

I'm not sure what I'll do this year. Someone at work keeps pressuring me to be Zeus. I was thinking Dr. Horrible. Or I could get a wicked awesome cape, and go as an old-school vampire (not the new glittery type).
