big show in Waco
When I used to pass out cassettes to people on the street in Austin like Daniel Johnston, one of the more discouraging things that bummed me out is no one would ever comment on my music. Sure, I got great reviews, but my friends never told me "great song!"
Well I started trading tapes with this guy Benn and he gave me lots of praise and accolades. By the time I'd sent another tape I realized I now had my first fan.
Benn now runs a live music venue in Waco and I'm going there on november 19th to play a big show.
Because the musicians I'm using are my wife and my friend, it will be difficult to come up with something that sounds impressive in so short a time.
Phyllis has never played drums before (she already seems to be doing great) and Mal has only performed live as a DJ.
This is our line up:
Coz the Shroom-- vocals, guitar
Mal-- synthesizer lead intrument
Phyllie-- drums (a snare and a hi-hat with a tambourine on it)
We will do four songs this way and then, because Phyllis has actually played bass before, we're switching it up:
Coz the Shroom-- lead vocals
Mal-- Dj backup music plus live synth
Phyllie-- faux bass, played on my guitar.
Then, we will do four songs to back up music, karaoke style.
I wrote a song for each of us to sing, and the last one we will sing together.
We are going to call our act "the Boner Gang."
Here are links to each of our songs:
life's no secret
Bride of Kenkenstein
the Oblong Box
