Okay, so... this current scene (not YET a fight) is exposing some interesting tactical concerns for us as a group. Especially if the carpet is going to be a sort of flying battle platform for us, pretty much following us around the map and giving us a place to sleep / stand while lobbing artillery (nod to Sigrid) at stuff.
We all need to be able to get onto and off of the carpet safely. We need to be able to let the carpet keep flying, while we defend its retreat, and then get back to it.
So, the carpet can travel 40. That's only slightly faster than a normal person WALKS. All of the fliers in the party can fly faster than that, and if they're not in combat, they can easily catch up with us. (That also means any enemy fliers can easily catch the carpet, if we're not defending it.) Led weighs so much that the carpet can't lift him, though. So his only concern is being able to stay nearby. Led can run so very very much faster than the carpet, I'm not worried about him.
That still leaves Anna and Skyseeker. If Skyseeker has the belt of teleportation, she can get back to the carpet when she needs to. The belt has a chance of missing. And only a few uses per day, so it's not great. And unless she has featherfall, she can't necessarily get OFF the carpet.
I know that Anna has a short-range teleport spell, but if the carpet has moved away from her, it might not be good enough. She can at least use it to get from the carpet to the ground, though.
Winged boots might be enough.
Wings of flying would certainly be enough.
And we all need to be able to see in the freaking dark. Humans, half-elves, and even elves are totally blind inside the Darkwood. (That means Skyseeker and Annalysei, again.)
Goggles of Night grant Darkvision.

Geek the mage, first.
