Hey guys...

Wasn't "around" for a bit... was away, popped on, only read this thread once or twice in the last month. saw about lorin's hospitalization... :(
And sarge's story of his leg.
Sorry you guys... that's awful.

(aware I've missed a lot of things that have been going on in ppl's real lives besides that)

Anyways, here's what's up with me:
At the end of January, my hubby's job as youth pastor at a small Chinese church ended..
And after having been in denial about various things, blithely telling myself "we're leaving on the best possible note" for weeks, then when it actually happened... it hit me like an emotional ton of bricks.
I hate leaving a Christian community, and I hate moving.
Don't know what we're doing next.
Getting more tutoring work; kinda not liking some of that.

It's OKAY if people don't know what to say to this... and even if some ppl think, "pfft... I don't even see why pastors should get paid to do that."

Anyways, I'm doing well right NOW, and I have been for the last couple of days.

I don't get it but this does not sound good...
Sounds like you're stuck in a rut and nothing will do but to be "perfect" at a skill you're banging your head against the wall over?
Or maybe it's not a wall but a ceiling.
and maybe it's a temporary ceiling but it doesn't look like one.

I don't understand the deal about "and," though... explain?
Oh the AND is nothing, really. But I felt like my head was going to explode earlier 8O I was just trying to figure out an instruction for 6502 assembly language, and every resource I found defined AND as being a logical AND. By the time I had it figured out, I thought it was funny. What is AND? It is AND. So I tried putting a humorous twist on it and vent a little, too.

As far as beating my head against the wall, yeah you hit the nail on the head. It is pretty sad really, but I am obsessed with getting a better score in NES Tetris, just so I can feel worthy of interacting with some of the people I know who are into it. I want something to talk about, so I can have some sort of interaction. I am so lonely

Oh well  at least I can go to sleep tonight knowing that AND is AND.

Sorry to hear about your troubles. I know moving sucks, especially leaving a community you feel close to. Sounds like your husband is a very good man, and I hope something works out. You both seem to be generous loving souls, and I bet something good is waiting down the road, just gotta have faith :)

Linna - sorry youhad to leave. i assume you will move on and do good works other places?

i know that it hits us hard whenever the priests rotate. in fact at Mass today a favorite priest who has retired showed up, but was unable to say hi to him. :(

he was present at the only reading i have ever done during Mass. it was a weekday Mass,, and the reading was James 5:1-3. my favorite.

but the new priest is very nice and asked permission today to take thrre weeks next year to do some justice ministry work - we said yes as a congregation of course!

going to Church these past three days has put me at ease about the surgery and whatever happens after that. :)

You could say 'AND' means the opposit of 'OR'. One is a 'severing' word that sepparates items or states, the other is additive or joining in function. I could go on to give examples but I guess you get the meaning. I don't know what 'Tetris' is and don't think I want to, but one thing I do know; if it makes you cry - dump it.

peter -- Tetris is a video game. :)

Linna -- Fingers crossed that your church finds your hubby a post close to home, so you don't have to move.

Shuram -- Good to know that AND is still AND (which I will have to take your word for, anyway!).

And to the rest of youse -- happy Monday. :P

Tetris: the game I love to hate. The thing about Tetris is, it is sort of a battle with my own mind. The only thing holding me back from getting a better score is walls I have built up inside my head. There is a pre-destiny theory which I can't really get into here, but basically, every game of Tetris is sort of like a snapshot of my brain when I play. I am so fully committed, that to give up Tetris would be like giving up on myself.

The hard part is trying to leave it alone for a few weeks. I just can't do it, even though I think it is necessary.

Shuram, I totally understand being addicted to Tetris. I have that tendency myself. Have spent hours playing games when I could be being more constructive. When I was studying for a recertification exam for work I had to swear off games. My son also has that tendency and he finally eliminated all games from his computer and refuses to go to online game sites. And he resists all temptation to try a new game.

I'm up a little later than I need to be. I want to write something about the two books I've recently finished but don't know what to say.

I feel pretty good today. Tired but good. I brought cupcakes in to work and they were a big hit. I had a good closing group tonight and I feel really good about a clean close. The new cashier Noriko has already joined in the game of quoting lyrics at one another from the OD soundtrack. AND I brought Sorus the final piece we needed to access the magical furniture pad at work.

I did have a moment of frustration though. I had specifically asked for time off on Wednesday for my dentist appointment. I intended to use sick time and told Kin about it when I asked for the time in the first place since the only time we can use that without penalty is for appointments made in advance or emergency hospital stays. I come in today and find that my schedule has been changed and they put me on Saturday so I could "get all my hours." I was like, hey, I have 72 hours of sick pay saved up and I get to use it for appointments and such so I wanted to have a four day work week and use my damn sick time when I can take it without penalty otherwise it's useless to me. I even said I was willing to take a different day as long as I got to use my sick time. They ended up giving me Saturday off after all. I hope they realize that I'll probably need two or three more visits over the next few weeks to get my teeth fixed and I sure as heck plan to use that extra time for those too. GRRR....
Now if I could just find a way to wear live bees as jewelry all the time.....
