The very first film adaptation of The Hobbit ... ever!

Post by wayfriend »

Saw this on theOneRing.net, thought it worth cross-posting here.
Watch the very first film adaptation of The Hobbit (that was never released)

In 1966, animator Gene Deitch collaborated with Czech illustrator Adolf Born to create the very first film version of The Hobbit. This version — which took some sizable creative liberties with J.R.R. Tolkien's original story — never saw the light of day. What the heck happened? [link -- you can watch the whole movie if you have 12 minutes to spare!]

Thanks for this!

Side note, I joined theOneRing.Net years ago but found it so zooey... I didn't feel like I could get to know anyone there and too many NOOB POSTS IN ALL CAPS!!!!!!!!!! I went back again recently and it didn't seem like it had changed much.

I spent a lot of time at The White Council, but that forum is very, very quiet these days. Just a few old timers trying to survive until The Hobbit comes out...

Hm, doesn't want to load right now. I'll try later...

Lord Zombie should do a remake of this movie!
Monsters, they eat
Your kind of meat
And they're moving as far as they can
And as fast as they can
