Group Reads-Casting the Augury
We've split Mordant's Need discussions in two-by putting the "group reads" in their own forum called Casting the Augury. dANdeLION is my co-moderator there any we're assigning alot of chapter leads right now. Our goal is to complete book I: The Mirror of Her Dreams by Elohimfest (June 26th. Help us out, start reading (or re-reading) join the fun and indepth analysis!

Joy and Kastenessen are spearheading a read of The Man Who mysteries, currently on Ch. 3. Any chance of them getting a dissecting forum?
"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”

Cool, cool. I couldn't really do a good job on Mordant, though. Don't have the books, plus I never really got into the series. I haven't even read A Man Rides Through yet.

Well Jay I meant to come back and edit ur name in but I had an major incident come up at work right after I made the post above--and I also got really sick at the same-Fighting off a nasty sinus attack right now, actually. But I was thinking of u! Even in my funkiest hour!
Yeah I don't think anything's wrong with a Gap group read, eventually-I just think that too many reads at once can dilute the others-and I'm really trying to get The Seconds Chrons (Dissecting) finished by Fall because we'll need Dissecting then to help confine "Runes madness".
About Mordant's Need and Casting the Augury-I wasn't trying to compete at all with the Reed Stephens folks. We've had our own impromptu group read going on in MN for over 1/2 a year--but, kinda interest died and the chapters were blocking out the topics-we really needed a subforum for those chapters-alot of hard work went in2 them. I didn't start them but had been planning to revive them big time for the last 2 months. And now I'm making a big push to do just that, with the help other dAN and many other interested parties.

Please become involved in Casting the Augury-we've had some stellar work by new people and excellent, as always, read-leads by old faithfuls such as Earthblood and Duchess (who's chapter 22 lead went up last night). We're 4 chapters away from finishing The Mirror of Her Dreams. We are moving at a much faster pace than ever before. So do get involved and throw in your 2 cents before the next book starts and all the Official SRD Website new comers descend!

Yeah! I've posted some stuff there... and no-one is paying attention
And Danlo made an amazing topic about Havel;ock... a truly excellent and ingenious thread that one would think that a topic of such supreme excellence could not come from him...
But you did say that we could have a Gap series discussion... but not right now... You said as soon as others are over and done with... we could have one... I want to call it "Crossing the Gap". If that's ok with you...

Shucks Jay... How thoughtful! Why wouldn't you want to piss me off? Heh. I didn't think anyone cared what I thought... thanks anyway!kevinswatch wrote:Plus, we recently shot down Darth's idea of a Gap group read forum, so I wouldn't want to piss him off by making a different one.-jay

Well, if it were earlier in the game, then sticky this baby. But, once this book is done, there will be no need for this topic to be at the top. As it is, there are about 17 chapters left, and all but six have been taken. Chapters 42-44 and 48-50 are still available; pm me or danlo if you want to take one of those!

Thanks dAN for kicking plenty organisational butt, especially during A Man Rides Through. What a great work! Listen if you've never read Mordant's Need do yourself a favor an read it--it truly is wonderful. (That's 8 Group Read books for me--dang I'm complete toast!
) Just because the chapter analysis is over doesn't mean you can't read and contribute to your hearts content--enjoy!!!

I sahll vote for Runes as its the only one of these three that i have read.
But if you're all about the destination, then take a fucking flight.
We're going nowhere slowly, but we're seeing all the sights.
And we're definitely going to hell, but we'll have all the best stories to tell.
Full of the heavens and time.
