I think we are pretty flexible. I'll let everyone mull it over and then let him know our potential dates so he can black out any rentals. They very rarely get people wanting to take a beach vacation after the school year starts.

Also, would one or two cute, attention-seeking ankle-biters be welcome if I were to bring 'em?

I am having a real hard time finding hotels in the area that seem suitable. Not sure if it's me or if it's all closed in October. Jenn? Any suggestions?
Edit: maybe the Falmouth Inn?
"off-season rates from $65"
- 123 rooms - indoor heated pool - free wi-fi "in public areas"
- [unsure if free] breakfast buffet - pets allowed on request
This link is helpful, since the Falmouth Marathon is in October.

I am going to be in New Mexico/Arizona/Utah during that time. I am trying to fit both in so the question is do I take my southwest vacation before or after new england. I want to catch part of the balloon festival and I don't want it to be too cold at the Grand Canyon.

How many people are we seriously expecting? Some of us can double up in rooms quite willingly. If we fill Gran's house we can overflow to Paul's house. If there are those who prefer to go the hotel route I'll have to do some research, also known as ask my friends. I've been away from the cape for a long time and I've never needed a hotel. Anyway, lets get a current head count idea so we can see what all we will need.

Do we need to start another poll thread "Seriously, who's coming?"Cameraman Jenn wrote:How many people are we seriously expecting? Some of us can double up in rooms quite willingly

I went over two threads and collected the names of the people who've indicated an interest in attending. Of course, there are varying degrees of committedness at this point, which I won't try to capture here. And this list doesn't include significant otherage (with one exception). So as a head-count, it's sketchy, but a start. And as a start, it looks like a party!

I'm still planning on making it, though the fam's going to sit this one out.
I take it the closest airport is New Bedford (err, actually, it looks like Boston)? If someone could pick me up and give me a corner to sleep in, I'd appreciate it.

"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”

You guys get to duke out how the free accomodations are doled out. I figured a first claim first reserve so Sarge and Mrs., Ali, Lorin, Rigel and Syl have all openly coveted rooms as far as I can tell. I'll bunk with Paul to keep as many rooms free as possible. If any of you are willing to share it will free up more room. I'll let you figure it out.
