I have absolutely no clue about the area! What airport should I arrive at? And what dates do you recommend to make carpooling easiest?Cameraman Jenn wrote:Thanks Ali for your support. I do want to put out there that most airline tickets drop significantly in price if you fly home Monday rather than Sunday so if anyone can take the extra day it would save you money and since I am planning on staying a week I could do a run to Logan on Monday.

Rigel, I think the closest major airport is Boston Logan.
SD, I was thinking more in terms of airport restaurants and bars...but yeah, free wi-fi is good, too.
Syl, don't be ridiculous. You can ride up with me, if you want. And whaddya mean, you've never been to a fest? What about DC?
Oh, and as far as dates -- the clear winner for the poll question was for the weekend of October 14, so I'm assuming that's what we're aiming for. Yes?

I think that the Providence airport (PVD) is just as convenient to Falmouth as the Boston airport. And many people find it cheaper to fly to/from Providence. (Hopefully this is not another one of my Ferry stories.)
Yes, I hope October 14 weekend is the settled date. If someone objects, you had better speak up!
I will surely be able to help some people out at the airport. But I am just one man in a RAV4 with a third row seat.
I agree that gathering in Falmouth does present additional difficulties. The consensus is that free lodging trumps this, so as long as that's the consensus I won't argue it. Some people may have to come to terms with doing less Boston stuff. Is that so bad?
And geez if we got Waddley to the last 'Fest I don't think anyone should be without hope. That being said - you all know SRD won't be at this one, right? (I sort of feel like if everyone makes such an effort to get here, I as a New Englander am on the hook for delivering excitement! Oh, the pressure.)

I didn't think New Englanders did excitement.

If you got the room, Ali, that'd be great. I can help drive (assuming I get a new MD license before my NC one expires in May).
Heh, I didn't think DC was a Fest. More of a Waymeet.
No worries about excitement, WF. Show me a porch, friends, a bottle of wine or two (or what have you), and I'm good.

I've got a Honda Fit, and so far it's just you and me until we get to lorin's on Lawn Guyland. So yeah, there's plenty of room. And if you can drive a stick, I'd be overjoyed to share the driving.[Syl] wrote:If you got the room, Ali, that'd be great. Anybody else on the I-95 corridor we can pick up on the way?

Sweet. And if I'm driving up, I can bring my camping cot and will really only need a corner to put it down in.

OTOH, if he rode up with [Syl] and me, it'd be two against one when the political debate started...
