Is the humor how things all blend together?
The one I posted? No, not really.
Non-observant American Jews, at least those in NYC, make jokes about going out for Chinese on Chr-stmas, as Chinese restaurants tended to be one of the few types of restaurants which were open on Chr-stmas day. The rest is just commenting on how Hanukkah tends to overlap Chr-stmas many years, and how many Jewish families spend that day, as most likely they are off work and school as well.
wow, I don't usually check this thread... I found this one hilarious!!! also, love the picture but... hilarious...
Maybe it takes a special "Linna" twisted perspective; maybe I make the ironies do a flip-flop from what was originally intended.
(1 in a hundred billion [0.00000000001 chance, I think] is such an unacceptably high probability. plus... oh no!! raising a child who's -actually- perfect who's to become the Savior of the World... so much for all your exciting plans for life... that's out the window!)
Also, HLT, the pastor at my current church has a British accent, which I swear, he once intentionally used to recite some things disciples said in a Monte Python-esque way.
I thought of you.
"People without hope not only don't write novels, but what is more to the point, they don't read them.
They don't take long looks at anything, because they lack the courage.
The way to despair is to refuse to have any kind of experience, and the novel, of course, is a way to have experience."

"In spite of much that militates against quietness there are people who still read books. They are the people who keep me going."
