Oh Dear!
Think Transformers meets Under Siege, directed and written by the team that gave us Stealth.
I wonder when someone is going to give us these amazing visuals together with a story worth telling. Again the technology and Sci-Fi is pitched at the greatest return on investment which gives us a very average action romp which even Liam Neeson can't lift above the mediocre.
I won't indulge in spoilers, but someone should really have a go at using this fantastic visual technology to produce something better than comic capers...... Oh and (after causing the problem in the first place) the yanks save the planet again.

I saw it last night and actually enjoyed it. But then I don't go to the movies very much these days.
I thought Rhianna had a surprisingly good on-screen presence. And had been given just the right amount of dialogue and action without the jarring of her obvious personality the way perhaps Whitney Houston had done in the movie Bodyguard.

....actually I thought that part was the highlight!
Its enjoyable, but I don't think it will not stand up to scrutiny if watching it more than once.

They are locked inside a force field with the aliens who are light sensitive and for some reasons I didn't quite get cannot see the US ship. However there are bouys laid out in a grid for tsunamis warnings, which can measure water displacement giving a clue to the grid where the aliens machines are....thus the game.

I didn't know this movie was based on the game and thought maybe it was a world war II flick. When I heard there were aliens involved I groaned, but, went to see it anyway.
I was one of about 6 or 7 people in the whole theatre
which gave me that sneaky feeling I'd bought the wrong ticket. Yeah, the adverts were more exciting than the feature. And didn't some actor actually say, "I've got a bad feeling about this!"
BUT...I still actually enjoyed it. Or I should say that because I don't go to the movies very often I enjoyed the digital experience. (Seeing Buddha on top of the hill during the alien storm shower was far out. So were the aerial views of the Hawaii islands.)
The last time I went to the cinema was to see Captain America and I was really disappointed having expected better. With Battleship, I wasn't expecting anything out of the ordinary and so I wasn't disappointed.
