I'm getting sad as there isn't a chance in hell of me coming, provided I don't accidentally win the lottery or whatnot. And since I don't play, it looks pretty unlikely. But I am painfully jealous of all of you who will be making it.

Damelon, Gran's house does not have a closed yard. I'm not sure if Paul fenced his place because he always has a dog but I could find out. He's always got some goofy rescue mutt of some sort and always around lab or setter sized. Last time I saw him he had Bear and Bear and I loved each other from the first moment we saw one another. Bear has since passed on, unfortunately it wasn't peacefully. He got cancer in his face.

I'm not sure if I'll be able to make it now. It really depends what happens to me this summer.

There are so many little things in life that amuse us. Paul has taken to referring to our fest as my book club meeting. I guess that is actually accurate in a way.

Since Paul is not much of a reader and I doubt I could get him to commit to that sort of series I highly doubt there will be any tests. I explained it to him rather simplistically since he's not the type to join an internet forum. I told him that it's an internet forum that focuses around a particular author but includes much more than just that and that we meet up every so often in different parts of the country. I also told him that I had met the majority of people attending in person before so it will be more of a reunion than a random meeting. He thought that was pretty cool but yes, it somehow turned into book club meeting in his mind. He's a very smart guy but not so much an intellectual one. He's more of an outdoorsy surfing, beer drinking, working with his hands kind of guy. He's a landscape architect and in his spare time he tends to putter around remodelling his house and spending great attention to detail stuff like hand carving the trim and laying wood floors he's hand picked the lumber for and hand prepped himself. Building cabinets, that sort of stuff. And ladies, he's very good looking, keeps in pretty good shape and he's single, 45, no kids, been in a few long term relationships but never ended up married. Also, the cape year round is not exactly a hotspot for meeting hot chicks. Most of the population knows one another and New Englanders don't tend to go outside their insular circle much. Sad but true.

Way, that's so nice. I had planned on repaying Paul with the rest of the week by providing sumptuous home cooked meals and inviting him on our outings and paying for his beer. Honestly he's so happy and excited to see me that he thinks I am doing him a favor. I keep trying to disabuse him of that notion but apparently he's been bragging about my visit and some of my other childhood friends are jealous so it gives him status. It's ridiculous but then again, Way, you know about small town insular communities as much as I do.

Okay, I think that is kind of funny.Cameraman Jenn wrote:...apparently he's been bragging about my visit and some of my other childhood friends are jealous so it gives him status. It's ridiculous but then again, Way, you know about small town insular communities as much as I do.
Did you ask him if any of the childhood friends who are getting jealous are people you'd want to talk to again?

I'd love to go, but I'm still looking at moving cities sometime around August, which would make it financially difficult for me
