I used to succumb to insomnia quite a bit, and still a bit on occasion. The best thing to do is to develop a bedtime routine. Something that keeps your mind active, but not too active, and will send you to sleepsville. Reading was hit or miss - sometimes I'd just get too interested in the story. I pretty much play the Gameboy at bedtime and usually within 30 minutes, I'm out. Best games to play are games without much action and with a lot of reading. My suggestion would be the Ace Attorney games. Those were lots of fun, lots of reading, and almost no action. Perfect for getting me to sleep quickly.
When that doesn't work, and I mean this with all seriousness, masturbation is a good way to get a little exercise and calm you down. Some of the more honest women I have spoken with on this with insomnia have admitted this works.

I'm procrastinating on going to the shops. My mother in law is coming over for dinner and she's very picky, so I haven't decided what to make yet. She's been feeling very poorly lately and has been a bit sad, so we asked her over tonight. But... trying to find the energy for it. She'll be here in 3 hours and dinner should be done then and I have yet to go to the shop!

Cag, you are a treasure!

I agree with some of your methods of getting to sleep... but not gameboy, that'd keep me up. Reading does it for me 99% of the time. My wife must watch TV, and she's out like a light very quickly. TV doesn't do it for me unless I have had too many drinks.

What am I doing here? Reading, and enjoying posts from other watchers, and about to go to bed.

Surfing the web instead of going to bed.

Saying goodbye to someone I love who passed this morning. Rest in peace, Larry. (my stepfather, who does not normally wear dashikis, we brought these for everyone last summer when we visited)

So sorry to hear that, Deer.

Sarge, streaming media is blocked by my school during the day. I'll have to check it out later tonight.

I'm here because it's 7.20pm and my son is bopping around the house like a jack rabbit driving me nuts (no where to escape this kind of thing in our house). Instead of killing him (;)) I thought I'd come here instead!
