Just for the heck of it, plantain (the herb, not the fruit) is reputed to have a form of calcium in it that is absorbable by teeth, when the fresh leaves are chewed. It's worth a try. They're not too tasty but not bad either. It grows everywhere this time of year. Image

I'm tired today and cranky. To top it off I had a rash of annoying helpless freaking customers who should not have made it this far in life alive if they really needed that much help or were that unable to do things for themselves. I'll blog about the worst one.
Now if I could just find a way to wear live bees as jewelry all the time.....

Poor Jenn!

DotD -- thanks, but seriously, I suspect it's way too late for that. :( We'll know Monday after we talk to the dentist.

No dental insurance would cover it?
Sure, it'll cover part. But dental insurance covered Magickmaker's braces, too, and yet I still had to shell out several thou for 'em. And Batty doesn't have a job right now, so I'm pretty sure I'll be the one paying.
Gotcha.

And I do know what you mean about dental insurance. Even with it, I paid hundreds for my crown, last time around.

In other news, there's a stupid mosquito around here that has been biting the heck out of me. :-x

Don't those things have short lifespans? Why doesn't it die already.

(On the other hand, if I actually find it, it will die a premature death. :P )

I am sooo tired. Need to quit staying up so late. Last night I was browsing stock music clips for a possible book trailer. I looked up and it was 12:30am. 8O

I wonder if the makeup style you decide to use for the day reflects not only your mood at the moment, but your general state? For some reason, I've been going with a lot of red and gold eye makeup lately. Red like dried blood with a surrounding of a glittery golden colour (I have two shades of the golden glittery thingie). Sometimes I cover the red with the golden, sometimes just outline it outside. With usually a sharp liner edge. And lipstick has been pure ruby red lately sometimes with an extra layer of a dark metallic colour over it.

Do you guys change your look depending on the mood and state?

I have a wonderful friend from college... when she was in High School, for awhile... I think she was not esp. happy... and she'd put glittery stuff ALL over her face... to an extent that was pretty extreme.
One day, a teacher of hers said, "I don't understand... you're so bright, and yet..." (some negative comment about the way she was doing the glittery stuff)
And she gave the person a sharp look and was like, "You can have sparkly happy shiney me, or ..." (and I don't remember how she described the alternative.)

We always change the face we show to the world... tracking patterns in how would be truly baffling to me... (I think some of us are so weird... we intentionally try to compensate in the other direction... but it comes out in wacky ways.)

Red like dried blood, huh?

I am super grouchy/moody today... nonetheless, some good things have happened.
Tutoring was good.
One neat thing is that my husband tried making a setup to project an image of the sun onto a sheet so we might get to see the whole Venus-transiting-in-front... we failed to get it to work, but... I'm glad he tried?

Having fun watching the transit of Venus on the NASA channel. OK, I'm a geek. :)

Oh! I didnt mean glittery likethat. It has sort of a metalic thingie in it like so

a bit depressed. oddly enough because of Richard Dawson.

usually I don't care more than in passing about celebs expiring. but I grew up with Richard on five days a week. and it reminds me of that time and my dad.

and having to start work next week. not sure how i will be feeling at the end of the day.

i need to win the lottery and move back home.

Oh, yeah.. I wasn't assuming you meant yours was that glittery... just a story that I saw as being relevant to the idea of someone doing makeup differently according to mood / more lont-term state...

Damelon- good stuff! =)

I've been promising myself the same resolution for a while and had actually been making progress, but last night I looked at the clock - actually 'we' looked at the clock, in the tradition of a Happy Cambo Dance ;) - and it was 3.48am. The 6.40am alarm would have been painful enough had not the pre-3.48am hours been filled with half a dozen Russian Mules and a far too generous supply of prescription drugs.

I think it's time I admitted a couple of days of understandable painkilling assistence has now developed into a fullblown bender.
Woops. 8O

Sarge -- sounds like another round of missing your dad. I'm sorry.

Shaun -- Oh dear. And lack of sleep can't be doing the pain any good. Hope you get some actual rest tonight.

I swore I would be in bed by 9 last night, but when you don't get home from work 'til 7, that's kind of ridiculous. I did manage to turn out the light before midnight, tho, and I feel much better today (she claims). :)

In case you missed the transit of Venus, as I did:

:D

Kind of disappointed that I haven't been able to connect with my husband for a few days. Phones not working well, I guess, and he hasn't been e-mailing. :(

I guess starting back at work will be a bit of a shock as you've been off for so long. Don't think I could cope - but then I haven't had a 9-5 job since 1974. When I was teaching I chose my own hours, and although now I work at the computer until 11 most nights it's not quite the same as having to go somewhere and do something that I have to do. Good luck, and I hope they give you time to adjust.
I am playing all the right notes, but not necessarily in the right order!

deer- I'm sorry... missin' the other half... is not fun.

sarge- yeah, I remember you being frustrated about anticipating work on the depression thread... I'm sorry. :(
Concern about "am I going to be doing something that's causing damage to my physical body" is NOT fun.
And there may be -some- way to change things, but that would prolly not be a clear path at all..

ali- well, hey.. I wouldn't expect it to come all at once... and being realistic... good.

as for me... my mind is still attacking me today, and I expect to get up the nerve to post on the fist-shaking thread sooner or later.
a couple little things are functioning slightly better... I'm mailing potential students, enjoying time spent with my kids.. lowering some of 'my standards' for myself... and I got hope.
