I thought it kinda made the first outburst not make sense. But on its own, I like the idea that's how he learned to control it.

Really, there were big inconsistencies between the two Hulk appearances anyway. Unless we're meant to see it as whether he chooses to change or gets pushed too far affects how much control he has?

TBH I thought "Puny god" was too much of a cliche to be funny. /shrug

I suspect the wall of minor anger he uses to maintain control was broken in the explosion, leading to a more uncontrolled Hulk. Under other circumstances, he can choose to transform and this give him more control. *shrug* Sounds plausible.

I have news for Fury, though--that cage wouldn't have held the Hulk for long and being dropped from 10 km wouldn't have killed him.

Do we know if SHIELD was able to make any of Dr. Zola's old Hyrda weapons operational? Surely he gave them the specs on his equipment as part of his amnesty deal but I wonder if they ever got any of them recharged.

I think the idea is that he's always angry, and always keeping it under control. But there are times when he loses control; when something or other makes him too angry to keep control. That's when we see him fight the change.

However, any time he wants Hulk to come out, he can just stop controlling his anger.

That's how I interpreted it, and why I appreciated it so much. It also caused me to appreciate the terse manner in which he spoke. Until that moment, I didn't comprehend his manner most of the time.

I thought that was the whole point. They knew the cage wouldn't last long, which is why it was designed to drop. The cage was built to protect the ship, not imprison Hulk indefinitely.

Mystery Men...Avengers...hrm...too close to call for me--both are excellent.

The difference between Bruce and Roy (note: I don't think Mr. Furious' original name was Roy but I don't have those issues of Flaming Carrot so I'll have to see if I can track down that information) is that Bruce tries to keep his anger under control. Mr. Furious is always ready to explode because he likes it and, well, it's what he does and who he is.

The "I'm always angry" moment made me grin in sheer delight.

We saw this over the weekend. I knew it would be bad when there was a shootout and car chase within the first few minutes. I love Joss Whedons serials, but this was just a boring onslaught of special effects and endless action and none of the interesting characters he usually does.

But, I still hope it lets him get a new serial. :D

My wife was bored by it as well. She'd rather drag me to some gabby flick where there's all this talk about feelings, yechhh.

I know, why talk about feelings when you can destroy a few buildings and bash in some alien skulls to express your outrage/loneliness/guilt/etc.?

Exactly. Bring on the explosions, car chases, and heaving bosums.

:LOLS: My bad, it was late.

But seriously, that sentence made me stop and re-evaluate everything I thought I knew about the gender divide.
