Have fun with that! Hope the perfect place is out there waiting to be discovered.
I am laughing again this morning about what happened a few days ago. I was driving to a friend's house with my daughter. Somewhat ahead of us a man was driving a motorcycle. He suddenly decided to pull a U-turn (without looking first, of course). In the middle of the curve, he caught sight of my daughter, who is 16 and extremely beautiful, Nigerian men are just mesmerized by her-- and drove right into the ditch on the other side of the street. That is, the motorcycle went in the deep concrete ditch and he did a face-plant into the shrubs.
I stopped the car and jumped out to see if he was okay but he was already up and trying to pull the machine out of the ditch, and I think the only thing injured was his dignity; he glowered at me, so I got in the car and drove away... then Sarah and I started laughing.
Sarah said, "I'm officially a geisha now, I can cause accidents with one look." (If you read Memoirs of a Geisha or saw the film that would make sense.)

I once apparently scared some young woman into running away from me. I was just walking, quite fast, and a woman was walking in the same direction, slightly ahead of me. She looked back, saw me getting closer to her, and suddenly just ran away

And about a separate topic for Mallory's war - I haven't seen any objections to copying, if they don't appear anytime soon, that's exactly what I'm going to do, like in the distorted quotes and wordplay thread, which, by the way, also may get updates.
Copy on, Effy. As Ron can tell you, I am a disciple of the transitory, so it is not something I would bother to do, but if it is your fancy, be free! Plus, you really did give Murrin quite a bit of cheek in that war... especially after the Dread Poet came to your side. I can see wanting to memorialise such a thing when your opponent is as blog sighted as yours was.

I am playing all the right notes, but not necessarily in the right order!

Was I a man, that could be explained that way, however, while some people who know me suggested that I may be even something other than human, let alone of questionable gender (and I see good reasons for those thoughts), by documents and biology I am more or less female, and usually tend to look for the part. It should have more to do with the way I may look and behave when I'm not trying to pass as normal)Iolanthe wrote:Effaeldm wrote:I once apparently scared some young woman into running away from me. Really? That is actually quite frightening - to be walking down a street and having a man you don't know getting closer and closer behind you. How was she to know what your intentions were, or weren't as the case may be?

This is getting a regular habit. How was I supposed to know? You hadn't declared. Now I'm wondering why she ran away

You weren't supposed, and no need for the blushing emoticons) As for running away - some of the other things I mentioned in that post may be the reason)Iolanthe wrote:...

yay! I just had something go right for a change with moving a site, importing a database and all that. It is the first time ever it went right immediately without having to go back and fix something. Now I am done with work for today except for writing instructions and providing some psd templates and it is only 13.15!
My husband got a bad back injury this week and is home immobilised. We were taking holiday time next week, but now it seems it will be spent with him on his back, but not in a good way.

But, Murrin is a woman. Have you read her blog? It's about books and cufflink gowns and accessories.
