Last Chronicles
Please forgive this new posting of a topic I'm sure is being discussed in another thread. I simply couldn't find it. I've also made some of these observations before but couldn't resist tying them all together and perhaps generating a dialogue.
I've been reading the posts and following the intelligent discussion surrounding the new books forthcoming. This inspired me to review some of the earlier titles.
Some thoughts...
The Runes of the Earth- It would seem that Linden Avery herself grabbed the ring on the floor after Foul was dissipated in WGW. "Linden grasped Covenant's wedding band with the thin remains of her new health sense..."
It's anyone's guess what Runes (secert lore or mystery) will be like, but from Donaldson's comments it will involve a manipulation of time by Foul. Covenant would seem to be white gold incarnate, however, inexorably linked to it and the Arch of Time. "She did not look up to meet the argent gaze of his revenant." This brings us to the next book.
Fatal Revenant- If Covenant is the revenant who returns in the second installment this may make sense. A revenant is one who returns after an absense or after death. Technically Foul can't die, but Covenant clearly did. Of course, if Foul is simply Covenant's dark side and vice versa, then perhaps revenant refers to both of them.
Shall Pass Utterly- This doesn't sound like a hopful title for the future of The Land (or the real world as well)? Luckily for truth and beauty there is a fourth book.
The Last Dark- At fist glance this seems a very grim title as well, but the more I think about it the more hopeful it becomes. Although it has a finality to it, leaving no doubt that it is the last book in the Chronicles as a whole, there is also something else. The Last Light would be sad indeed, but The Last Dark? Perhaps it will be something akin to what Donaldson spoke of in Variations, the universe made new (and better).
Well, those are my thoughts for what they're worth. Like everyone else I'm just looking forward to Runes. It's been a long time. Hard to believe but I was eighteen in 1983 when I read WGW. I stayed up all night and finsihed it as the sun was coming up. Since then I've read countless books in many different genres but whenever I go into a bookstore I have always allowed myself one hopeful glance at the New Releases never entirely giving up on The Last Chronicles. What a glorious sight it will be come this fall or early winter!

Something there is in beauty.
I'm just hoping that the Land will finally be completely healed by the end of the last chronicles...I mean, it gets horribly desecrated time and again, and each time it's never rebuilt completely. At the end of WGW, there's still a hell of a lot of work to be done in order to restore the Land to anything like what it was before, and even with the newfound hope of Law being restored, all hell could still break loose without Foul's help. If Donaldson doesn't give me a happy ending...

"Shall Pass Utterly" rings of Desecration. I'm wondering if we will be taken to Kiril Threndor and witness Kevin and Foul enacting it.
And I believe in you
altho you never asked me too
I will remember you
and what life put you thru.

...for then I could fly away and be at rest. Sweet rest, Mom. We all love and miss you.

Why are we all so scared about what will happen?
Has SRD ever let us down? Didn't Covenant and Foamfollower defeat Foul in the first chrons? Didn't TC beat Foul in the second chrons and didn't Linden heal the Land the best she could - filled with her love for Covenant? I think that SRD knows what he is doing and will give us a wonderful ride! I, for one, expect to go through a roller coaster of emotion, just like I did with the first books. I want to throw the book across the room in anger and frustration. I want to be brought almost to tears with joy and happiness. I want to visit some old friends and make some new ones. This is going to be GREAT!!!!!!
We must have more faith!

one thing that does irk me a little around here is that every thread seems to have like at least 7 pages by the time i even look at one, i find myself hardpressed to look in every single page to either find if something has been talked about already, or something that i can respond to...
i understand not wanting to have 5 threads all about the same thing, but that thread, the "thing that sets srd fans afire" or whatever, doesnt really say "thread about the last chrons" very well...
just thought id share my opinion, no harm intended

Think on that, and be dismayed
What do you do to a man who has lost everything?
Give him back something broken

What news other than The Final Cronicles would set SRD fandom on fire so? Sorry I didn't title it SRD Announces Final Chrons at Bubonicon Conevention, Albq. NM 8-03. I wanted something that would get every member's attention, plus I was very, very excited at the time. There's also a reason why it's prominently displayed here. That topic is also on Kevin's Watch.com under the link of "Final Chronicle News". (don't worry I'll change part of the title just for youtheDespiser wrote:i understand not wanting to have 5 threads all about the same thing, but that thread, the "thing that sets srd fans afire" or whatever, doesnt really say "thread about the last chrons" very well...

You know what? I'm just having fun and mean no offense as well-I wasn't critisizing repetitive threads I was simply directing you to that thread for you own info--I think this thread's great
