I hadn't realized When Harry Met Sally was a chick flick. GREAT movie! MBFGW comes in second for me.

Meg has gotta be the ultimate cfa. Heck, she's in 3 from your list.

And I know that only 10 can be in a poll, but I think Beaches and Steel Magnolias are biggies, as far as the genre goes. What defines a chick flick more than a chick dying? Although there is Thelma & Louise...

I picked Miss Congeniality, though I also loved My Big Fat Greek Wedding. Sandra Bullock as a tough, too-smart-for-her-britches tomboy was just too funny. "Gliding here!!"

I think my favorite Sandra Bullock movie is Gun Shy. Liam Neeson is a traumatized undercover agent whose cool envelops him like a cloak whenever the crooks around him go to pieces. Oliver Platt is a perpetually angry mob thug who wants nothing more than to grow tomatoes in Sicily. Sandra Bullock saves both their asses, as cute as a button the whole time.

Would Keeping the Faith be considered a chick flick? That's my ideal romantic comedy. (not a fan of most romantic comedies)

Can't stand Bridgette Jones' Diary. She has to be the most annoying person ever.

When Harry Met Sally....

I spit popcorn during the "diner" scene.

His response: "Holy $&!^. He's not kidding! Look at all these muffins!"

I liked Sweet Home Alabama--The x-hub Josh Lucas is a good candidate to play TC! Very good new actor...

As a member of the male race I must deny having ever seen any of these movies. Harry Met Sally is the only thing I would sit down to, but that's because Rob Reiner directed it. Left out Broadcast News, by the way.

I liked My Big Fat Greek Wedding.

Aside from When Harry Met Sally, which was allright, I haven't seen any of the others.

Chick flicks are evil and should come with a health warning attached, such as this film will induce serious neural atrophy.

Sorry, I should add that it is great that there are so many people into them, in a way. It's not like they are violent or harmful in any way (feel the loveXXXXXX)More power to you all :goodnevil:

Good seletion of chick flicks there, on the basis that the only one I've seen is Pretty Woman ;) (and that not really by choice)

I couldn't get 2 minutes into MBFGW without wanting to throw up. OMG I hope my wife never rents it again. I voted for Harry/Sally, and liked Pretty Woman as well. I also liked Moonstruck, but I'm not sure if it fits the genre. There's something else, too. Jerry MacGuire. Renee Zellweger is incredible in that. Not sure if the movie qualifies, but she's the best.

Renee Zellweger never took my fancy until recently when I saw her on Inside the Actors Studio. I thought she was very likable there. I like this new trend of Hollywood to allow beautiful women to make themselves ugly for the sake of the part (Cold Mountain), instead of dressing them up like shop-window mannequins.

dAN, that part of Big Fat Greek Wedding that you hated, you were supposed to hate. It was the life the heroine was determined to get herself out of. I thought some of the early humor was a bit cruel, but after she remade herself, I found the movie a delight.

(Not to say you would find it a delight, but maybe you'll want to give it a chance some day. ;) )

I was supposed to be so utterly annoyed by the 'narration' (i.e.- incessant dratribe) of the main chareacter that I would leave the room before the credits had finished rolling? That makes no sense to me. Still, when you speak of the other trend, that reminds me of the great job Charlize Theron did to look like that serial killer woman. Of course, Charlize has always been a great actress....

I like Ever After. I didnt think much of Drew Barrymore before, but I think she did an ok job on that movie. She acctually almost look human (as opposed to most other actors...)! And I especially like that the rather Mr Darcy (pride and prejudice) - like prince never manages to get anything right  Otherwise I think what I have seen of the rest of the list in the poll just passed in through one ear (and eye?) and out through the other acctually... perhaps there is some deeper messages hidden in those movies, but I didnt find them :(.

I find that I can cope rather well with a thin story, as long as it has enough funny or bizarre moments.
