Yeah..where's my medal??

And I believe in you
altho you never asked me too
I will remember you
and what life put you thru.
~fly fly little wing, fly where only angels sing~
~this world was never meant for one as beautiful as you~
...for then I could fly away and be at rest. Sweet rest, Mom. We all love and miss you.

well, i cant remember that chicks name, but in the second series, when thomas and...whoever else, run into a bunch of ur-viles, i think it was, and that chick calles down the banefire(or whatever...man, its been forever since ive read them...) and she dies, and then the other guys reaction...
i was happy when they took her to the andelanian hills, and she was revived...
also when Elena died in the first series...that was by far my favorite of the two chronicles...i got into it the most, which isnt to say i didnt get into the second one alot, too, but the first one was the original, ya know? felt i knew everybodoy better...
and yes, when Thomas died at the end...that really sucked..i had hoped hed find a way to defeat foul and find another way to get back to the real world...

Think on that, and be dismayed

i think the saddest part was when Covenant told the story of the Unhommed to the Quest giants and lit the giant Caamora, then the souls of the Unhommed where cleansed. Most of the other parts that others mentioned just disgusted me, lke the ur-Viles and Vain, or i forgot as i read the books over period of 2 years and didn't comprehend alot of them or just don't remember, like COvenmants incedent in Doom's Retreat, or when Atrian left Covenant.
It is the Würd of The Earth i pay hommage to. It is among the Elohim i exsist and serve.
Yet it is the Borg I am always with.

I think he is just a bit too much for mainstream fantasy readers (what an odd concept). Too much sex and violence for good little fantasists.

He knew only that they had never striven to reject the boundaries of themselves.

Well, that's a little undiplomatic, but yes, that's what I meant in a nutshell.

saddest moment
For me this is when Lena awakes suddenly in the cave with TC and Foamfollower and Covenant has to reassure her in the presence of the giant

You reminded me of this...crimsonking wrote:For me this is when Lena awakes suddenly in the cave with TC and Foamfollower and Covenant has to reassure her in the presence of the giant
ah sigh..."No, Lena," he said softly. "I don't love you right--I don't have the right kind of love to marry you. I'd only be cheating you. You're beautiful--beautiful. Any other man wouldn't wait for you to ask him. But I'm the Unbeliever, remember? I'm here for a reason." With a sick twisting of his lips that was as close as he could come to a smile, he finished, "Berek Halfhand didn't marry his Queen, either."
His words filled him with disgust. He felt that he was telling her a lie worse than the lie of marrying her--that any comfort he might try to offer her violated the severe truth. But as she realized what he was saying, she caught hold of the idea and clasped it to her. She blinked rapidly at her tears, and the harsh effort of holding her confusion at bay faded from her face. In its place, a shy smile touched her lips. "Am I your Queen then, Unbeliever?" she asked in a tone of wonder.
Roughly, Covenant hugged her so that she could not see the savagery which white-knuckled his countenance. "Of course." He forced up the words as if they were too thick for his aching throat. "No one else is worthy."
He held her, half fearing she would collapse if he let her go, but after a long moment, she withdrew from his embrace. With a look that reminded him of her sprightly girlhood, she said, "Let us tell the Giant," as if she wished to announce something better than a betrothal.
Together, they turned and climbed arm in arm up the ravine toward Saltheart Foamfollower.
When they reached him, they found that his buttressed visage was still wet with weeping. Gray ice sheened his face, hung like beads from his stiff beard. His hands were gripped and straining across his knees. "Foamfollower," Lena said in surprise, "this is a moment of happiness. Why do you weep?"
His hands jerked up to scrub away the ice, and when it was gone, he smiled at her with wonderful fondness. "You are too beautiful, my Queen," he told her gently. "You surpass me."

And I believe in you

This is what I love the most about Donaldson - they way he can convey emotion in you when reading his works. When TC said goodbye to Linden, I felt her sadness; when he said goodbye to Foamfollower I was sad, too. That's why the Chronicles is so powerful - it's overflowing with emotion. Good stuff.
