The attention to my thread thread
A thread to ask or demand or beg or scream for some attention to a thread you find important. Particularly if the thread is in a sub-forum the vast majority avoids. Preferably with an explanation.

Sorry, Foul, but this is neither Announcement nor Suggestion and drawing attention to posts in other forums is not the purpose of this forum.
"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”

But it is, apparently, the stated purpose of this thread.[Syl Embattled] wrote:Sorry, Foul, but this is neither Announcement nor Suggestion and drawing attention to posts in other forums is not the purpose of this forum.

I'd like to continue to accrue participants in the Grand Reread. And in general to encourage folks to post in the Books forums, especially the Chrons. There continues to be interesting discussions there.

And [Syl], this is for you:

Thanks, Deer.

Re: The attention to my thread thread
Alright, the subject line said "the attention to my thread thread."Lord Foul wrote:A thread to ask or demand or beg or scream for some attention to a thread you find important. Particularly if the thread is in a sub-forum the vast majority avoids. Preferably with an explanation.
But you seem to be saying that one can put forward any thread he/she finds important.
Typically, people use the possessive only on threads they created, so I am confused.
Do I have to have created a thread to seek attention for it here?
Do I even have to have participated in a given thread to seek attention for it here?
Please clarify - these are matters of great pertinence to what I post on your/"your" thread right here!

"People without hope not only don't write novels, but what is more to the point, they don't read them.
They don't take long looks at anything, because they lack the courage.
The way to despair is to refuse to have any kind of experience, and the novel, of course, is a way to have experience."
-Flannery O'Connor
"In spite of much that militates against quietness there are people who still read books. They are the people who keep me going."
-Elisabeth Elliot, Preface, "A Chance to Die: The Life and Legacy of Amy Carmichael"

Re: The attention to my thread thread
My perception may differ from yours, but it appears to me the suggestion to link all the threads that reqire more attention into one was a suggestion, and deer stated correctly that announcements are the purpose.[Syl Embattled] wrote:Sorry, Foul, but this is neither Announcement nor Suggestion and drawing attention to posts in other forums is not the purpose of this forum.
Do I look like typical people? I even once claimed posession of a certain leper I had not much actual joy in owning, for mostly practical reasons - he even didn't agree with my opinion on that. So don't believe the threads if they tell you they're not yours.Linna Heartlistener wrote: Typically, people use the possessive only on threads they created, so I am confused.
You don't even have to take part in the thread you mention - though why not show some sample to the people you want to draw there? Whatever you feel posessive about - it's not like "Don't scratch my car!", it's like "Alien invaders, off from my planet!"
I have many names... and may play many roles

Somebody go and second the nomination for this one in the Watchies forum (non-SRD-related thread). I'd do it, but I've already seconded another thread.sgt.null wrote: Proof That Australia is a Myth

LF, (Here I mean new LF.) when you went on that thread-creating binge, you hit on some awesome ones.
I was like, "I want to promote my new thread which nobody is likely to see.
And then I realized... "There's a thread for that!"
I bumped the "favorite Christmas Carol(s)" Thread from a couple years ago... =)
(The thread formerly known as "Justice for a Widow" - but now with slaves!)
Does a good place exist to start if you want to just blab about your thoughts on the first few chapters of RotE you've read?
Would that be "pick a theme / create your own thread"?

Why not in the RoTE forum? Seems to be where ppl do that (there are actually a few Watchers who occasionally read the books of SRD and wish to comment and discuss).Linna Heartlistener wrote:LF, (Here I mean new LF.) when you went on that thread-creating binge, you hit on some awesome ones.
