Students are taking exams in my classroom. There are only 2, one already finished and left.

Because of political unrest, students were given the option to take exams. This being Nigeria, a lot actually showed up (Nigerian students are very serious and competitive; probably because so few actually get to go to school they know it's a privilege), but the principal explained to them that statistically, 85% of grades stay the same or go down as a result of exams. So a lot left. Makes grading easier for me, but the semester is kind of ending on a whimper, it feels like.

Why would they not take the exam? Wouldn't the final grade go down even further if the exam result's a zero?

Edit, ah wait, the exams were made optional.

Yeah, some who took it probably shouldn't have! I gave another teacher a hard time because in proofreading report cards I noticed that nearly everyone got an 'F' on her final, including B+ students. That ain't right.

School is done and I'm just tying up some loose ends before I go... and my internet at home is pretty bad so I may not be around much over the next few weeks.

I'm avoiding entering tutoring lessons... but I think I actually only have 3 to go... total.
