we have a street in Houston called Harwin. an Indian neighborhood has grown up around it, they call it the Ghandi district.
I buy Julie a purse there very year, and a wallet to go with it. along with some costume jewelry. we were there and Julie was in a store looking for a gift for me while I wait outside. they directed her to a video store. so we went and Julie spent a good fifteen minutes in there. and I had absolutely no idea what she bought for me.
it was the following...
a dvd called - Ferrari Ki Sawaari
a cd - the soundtrack to Jhoom Barabar Jhoom
a box of fruit biscuits (imported from India)
six small candies (7 Star/7 Up, Gogo & Shahi Meva)
and a cricket ball!!! (Kookaburra Match)
it was honestly so well thought out and such a surprise. it makes me so proud and happy to be married to such a thoughtful woman.

Daughter of Regals, SD (paperback)
A 1960s childhood, Paul Feeney (from my sister, quite unexpected, wonderful book, so many things I had forgotten - Jubblies, Scoubidous and the skipping rhymes that went with the very long rope for example)
Also
A cloth bag in a pouch with my name on it! (I have had to rescue this from the dog three times as he seems to have taken a liking to it)
A purse (to put money in, what you Americans call a purse we call a handbag)

But my best Christmas present was seeing my 7 year old grandson's face when he unwrapped the keyboard we bought him. He asked me three times if it was really his to keep. By the time we left on Boxing Day night he had almost got the first two lines of Away in a Manger. I have promised to buy some manuscript paper to teach him some notes.

Deer: ditto what menolly said, and an additional...kinda like the Gap book 1 doesn't really get to the good stuff [unlike the Gap, it falls apart after book 3 or so instead of getting better...but that's just me perhaps.]
