Welp, the poll has closed, and it looks like Seized by Lynne Cantwell has just edged out Life of Pi.

Now's the time to look into getting hold of the book to read - discussion will start in February.

I love you guys. :hearts:

Murrin's idea is to have you guys read it and discuss, and then I'll come in and do a Q&A kind of thing. I think that's the plan, anyhow....

Got it on Kindle, almost done with Chapter 2, I, sorta know the way ali thinks, and it comes out great in print, so far. Almost makes me want to take a road-trip to Boulder.

That sounds like a great plan!

Murrin, your efforts to organize this book club thingy in a sane, sensible and also fair way are much appreciated.

They don't take long looks at anything, because they lack the courage.

Btw, I read Beyond the Event Horizon.Edit: actually, the more I remember it, the cooler I realize it was. Not perfect, but really good! I'm curious, who nominated it? Is the author on this forum?

Looking forward to Seized!!

EDIT: Bought it right after posting, started reading, immediately loving the "voice". I felt like I was sitting with this person in a cafe and she was intently relating her experience to me.

After much complaining about postage costs, I'm apparently 81% done with the novel. I'm forced to rest a lot right now, so dl'ed the kindle software to my laptop and have read this in bed for the most part. Apparently the cloud has a nice syncing property too.

A small nitpick about foreign language usage:
Spoiler
I know this is fantasy and all, but seeing the word hrafn in a company name and then concluding that Óðinn owns it a second later... A bit too brusque, considering that the word's as common in modern Icelandic as krauka or lundi or kría, and an existing male forename besides. A bit like spotting the Finnish kantele somewhere and drawing a direct beeline to Väinämöinen. ;)

I nominated it---not to be confused with Beyond the Blue Event Horizon, or the book version of the movie Event Horizon (and no the author is not on the Watch, that I know of...) 8) I'm over 1/2 way through Seized...
