Well, I have another 500, so here goes.

The Contest
This contest is a cross between The Price is Right and Stephen R Donaldson Ate My Dictionary.

I have chosen eight words which figure prominently in SRD's works. There is a [rather useless] clue provided for each word. Each contestant must guess how many letters are in each word. The contestant who comes closest, without going over, wins that word. Whomever wins the most words wins the contest, and wins 500 WGD.

Small print: If you want to play, you have to post a guess for all eight words. Each guess for each word must be a whole number. In the event of a tie for a word, the word is awarded equally to all the players who tied. In the event of a tie for most words won, there will be a playoff of some sort between the players who tied.

Here are the eight clues:

1. There's a song for a conunction one.
2. Sounds like something you would squeeze from a pimple.
3. A reason for cold feet.
4. One night, dated the regional manager of the Scranton branch of a paper distribution company.
5. Use of a low grade laminate.
6. Won't stick to an EMT.
7. How Snowy frequently passes the time.
8. Angry Birds bare them.

I think everyone can play this one. No excuses! Noobs welcome.

Now, now. The first new game after a Survivor mega-game historically hasn't been a comparatively big draw. Last time, it ended up with a contestant unilaterally declaring himself winner and attempting to award himself the White Gold Ring from the Aumbrie. Fortunately, that did not stand.

However, WF, you might consider retiring or revising the Survivor reference in your signature. No point in pimping a contest that is over, nu?

A positive integer is a whole number greater than 0 e.g. 1,2,1002, a quingazillion!

A 'conunction' is either a mispelling of 'conjunction', or a very clever word play because leaving out the 'j' breaks the joining that is contained in 'conjunction'. Since I think the clue has to do with breaking rather than joining (think 1st Chrons and songs) then it's very clever indeed. (There is also probably a sub-pun 'unction' (= healing) and most likely on 'con' (= jointly) as well )

I didn't do any squeezing I simply guessed that the word 'pus' might be involved and then a regular favourite word of SRD'd spurted (eeuwh!) to mind!

Someone else help Iolanthe with the others?!

Aha! So, an Integer is a "whole number" so why not say "whole number"?

I thought of pus too - clever, I thought, a lot of people put two esses on it which would have made it 4 letters, but I think I missed the whole spirit of the thing - the answer has to be a word that appears in the Chronicles. Doh

1: A "normal" counting number like 4 or 7. Not a number like 6½ or 3.01. My intention here was to prevent people playing fractions of a number. Did you ever watch The Price is Right? There's always that guy who thinks he's tricksy by bidding $300.01.

Anyway, I changed the context text. It says "whole number".
