He most likely means Emergency Medical Technician...
That abbreviation is very prevalent in the states.

I've got another thought! the one that says "sounds like"... it really only means sounds like... the meaning has nothing to do with what you squeeze from a pimple...

That looks pretty cutthroat to me...
I'm not sure what wf is saying about you doing that 'in the spirit of fun.'
word length of 8 letters is a pretty common amount for SRD words....

If nothing else, your ratio of time spent on this to probability of winning is MASSIVE.
Highly efficient.

Ha! And there's another -- one I needed!
Just found the handy corpus stashed in "SRD ate my dictionary"!

ussusimiel wrote:...and then a regular favourite word of SRD'd spurted (eeuwh!) to mind!
haha!

I typed "pus" into a thesaurus. Then a moment later the word that sounded like it had pus in it jumped into my mind.
It was weird.
It's as though there's this/these door(s) in my mind I can't find if I try to... but sometimes if I'm not trying....
Well, I'm sure I'm not the first person to have a problem like that!

Hey, wait... I hadn't seen you'd said that...
I was thinking the exact same thing... except probably more subversively... ;)

I was thinking it was the way to "beat the 'game master' " in a Survivor-style game, I think.
unless of course wf is playing a deeper game, and wants us to do that, but... bah..

Whoops. Sorry.

In that case, the answer is:

42.

Did I win?

(Seriously, Way, this one's hard. I hope people are pm'ing real entries to you...)

BTW, are there any explicitly-stated rules for this contest against particular types of collaboration?
or strongly-implied WWM-contest precedents?

 :?:

Way has been pretty liberal (heh...I am so glad the Tankers do not frequent this thread, lest they "extend" upon that characterization!) about the rules of these contests. For example, I came forward with what I felt (in retrospect) had been a fairly major bend of ethical practice in one of the rounds of the recent Survivor competition...and I received no censure other than what had already been provided by a fellow competitor to whom I had admitted what I had done.

Way wisely counseled that the situation would be resolved by the eventual disposition of the WGD prize that he (and everyone else) knew would inevitable ensue. And that is exactly what happened...

What Linna is saying is that she and I (and at least one other) have been in hugger-mugger behind the scenes trying to save our sanity in the face of the wayfiend. (We fear that he is becoming the Lord Foul of Mallory's 8O ) We hope that if we can figure out his twisted clues, we can thwart his transformation into Evil and save his Mallory's-manifested Soul! (This is serious stuff! A few broken rules count as nothing nothing  )

If WWM was part of Mallory's, I wouldn't frequent it.

I dropped Mad Hatter once it was moved in to Mallory's...

Haiku game is there
If it were not, would you play?
How fun would that be?

It's not about that
Haiku writers don't compete
It is more like jazz

Turn prior last line
Into the beginning line
Of one's own stanza

Improvisation
Is what it is all about
Not competition

Oh no! wayfiend's influence has already escaped the bounds of Malloy's 8O And he has subverted DPJ as well 8O 8O
We must redouble our efforts if we are to prevail :yeehaa:

I just had some luck with this one:
  • Use of a low grade laminate.
Just Google 'low grade laminate' and see what jumps out at you! (I'd now change my guess to 11 letters.)

I'm still completely at sea with a few of the others, especially this one:
  • One night, dated the regional manager of the Scranton branch of a paper distribution company.
Linna did a bit of research. Mike Scott from the Office is probably the manager involved. Holly Flax is the most obvious girlfriend. 'One night, dated' reads like a clue to an anagram. 'Night' could be 'knight'. Anybody with any other insights? Help!

You can go back and change your answers at any time until the contest is closed. :D

It's a good question as to why this isn't in Mallorys. I think because it was originally conceived as a way of getting people to do dumb things for WGD, and there were several "give me WGD" threads going at the time in this forum. Moderators can always move it. However, the funding of the WWM game is largely based on the WWM game being here.

FWIW, I favor staying here. Menolly won't play in Mallory's...and the GenDisc post count (dear to ali's heart) would suffer if WWM moved.
