I've always liked Jingle Bell Rock but I think that's mainly from the opening of Lethal Weapon, which probably doesn't really fit the cheery Christmas theme :P

...there's another one that was new-to-me this year which I really enjoyed, but it's not coming to me right now.

I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day as performed by John Gorka.

Although I must also add that "O Holy Night" always brings a lump to the ole throat.

The Shepherd's Farewell (Thou must leave thy lowly dwelling), music by Berlioz.

Listen out for the modulation at the end of the 7th line.
I am playing all the right notes, but not necessarily in the right order!

"I must state plainly, Linden, that you have become wondrous in my sight."

Still not recalling it, but I remembered I heard it at a synchronized light show at a neighbor's of SD and Dam-sel.

I like many of the ones mentioned, and have written a countermelody for O Holy Night that has gotten fairly good reviews.

I like, Lo how a rose er blooming too.

A couple of lesser known (but exceptionally great) ones are "Where is the Child" by John Ness Beck and the traditional "I Wonder as I Wander" which is simply moving.

This I would love to hear.

I was taught a counter melody (counter point? it has different words and melody sung at the same time) to Silent Night when I was in 5th grade, and to this day it is the only way I can sing it if singing it with a group of others.

(Parody of Good Vibrations by The Beach Boys)

I love the colored lights every year
And the way that neighbors stop their cars and stare
I strap a Santa Claus on my roof
Plastic candy canes and reindeer everywhere

    I’m stringing up decorations
    It’s draining the power stations
    Fake icicle light formations
    Imported from third world nations
    I’m stringing up decorations
    I’m freaking out fire stations
    I’m pumping out radiation
My neighbors are out of patience

“Hey, pal, come on knock it off…It’s three in the morning!”

Got to keep those yuletide decorations up all winter
God appreciates my plugged-in tribute to The Savior
God would love it if I could keep ‘em up till well past Easter

    Amen

    Good, good, good decorations
I’m putting up a manger station
    Three wise men’s destination
    Nutcrackers in full claymation
    Little Drummer Boy animation

    Fa-la-la-la-ho ho ho

That is hilarious!!

There is a fairly new (for Christmas carols) song called All Is Well which I love; the Sussex Carol, O Come All Ye Faithful*, Silent Night, all the usual ones.

*This became my favorite almost 20 years ago when an episode of ER closed with an acoustic version. I got my guitar out after that and came out with my own interpretation and it came alive for me.

A newer favorite is Telling the Story of Love, which I have only heard here in Nigeria. If I can figure out how to get my notation software to generate a pdf, I would like to put it "out there" for people to sing, everyone that hears it loves it and it's catchy.

We Three Kings, particularly the way the chorus is handled in this rendition.

Well, we are past the season now, but I shall still weigh in.

Sleigh Ride is my favorite winter themed song....I cannot hear it enough and it always makes me smile.

I am also very fond of the Hallelujah Chorus.

As far as specific carols....The Little Drummer Boy makes me cry every year.....the part that goes....I have no gift to bring to lay before our king....shall I play for you (because that is all I have to offer)....gosh, tearing up right now.

I also love the one that starts out with, "Angels we have heard on high, singing sweetly oer the plains" Love that one....but have no title.

Sorry for the randomness. :D

Actually, the title really is "Angels We Have Heard On High"...but the tune is "Gloria in Excelsis Deo."
