cheval are you on The Scryers server?

thats where most of us are altho sorus has toons on garona as well

our guild is Legacy and you can use the "who" tab on your friends
thingy to see if any of us are on when you're on, if, that is, you
are on the scryers server.

you can look for me on Irvea, creator has so many toons but
he's mostly on Stormbreak or Nightchills or Devaguya or Shini
or Infelice
sorus is usually on Heleina or Inviere but she does have a hunter
named Sorus as well

easiest way to find us is type Legacy in the who search on the friends thingy
and see if any of us are on.

of course if you're on a different server that won't work. :P

I thought I saw something in the 5.3 patch notes about them adding tri-spec. Did they remove it, or am I going crazy?

There was a datamined spell, but Blizzard is denying they intend to implement it.

Darnit. I'm tired of having to choose between Disc and Shadow. I want both!

Reading this thread (yes, I do keep an eye on the unruly posts in this forum), I decided to check out the talent calculator on a whim. What the heck happened? I've filled out EULAs with more check boxes.

The death knight talent—no, not tree—sheet looks kind of pathetic for anyone who doesn't want to tank. I've been out of it so probably not getting the math, but damn. And the glyphs... While never all that useful to me, it hardly seems worth the time.

OK, sure, simplify if you need to, but as an old school RPG'er, I like having more choices than I need (kind of follows the lamentable platformer trend of having a weapon, a couple of accessories, and maybe a single armor slot). Does the gear or other things make up for it, or is this just a further slide into the 'let's slap a few RPG elements to this action/adventure game' trend?

Y'know, RPG video games sprouted from actual RPGs. There were similar yet simpler games back then. They were called "board games." Sure, Key to the Kingdom was fun the first few times, but eventually... collecting dust on the shelf.
"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”

Yes, the talent bonsai took some getting used to. Most core abilities are granted automatically when you select your spec.

Gear hasn't changed much. Not sure if you were around when they added the transmog option, but it's pretty cool. Gives more reasons to run old content.

The reason for the talent change was because in almost every case, there was a "right" and a "wrong" choice for where to put your talent points, with only 2-4 free points in each spec that could go by preference. Now, we have 6 sets of talents with a lot more parity that are generally useful for all three (or four, for Druids) specs of a class situationally.

The talents are mostly not about dps, because utility is easier to balance (the same applies to glyphs now). Some tiers are all about movement, some are pretty much pvp-only (but can also be useful for soloing, or trash in Challenge modes), others are much more interesting.

When you're actually playing it's not much different at all from what it used to be. If anything, there's more choice now because you're picking talents and glyphs by what you think will be most useful on a fight-by-fight basis, not just taking the cookie-cutter best-dps build. You just don't have to click a load of boxes before you start playing.

It also means that people get to play with some fun tools of their class without having to go into a particular spec they might not otherwise want to play. So all Rogues can get Shadowstep if they want; any Paladin can pick up Repentance; Warriors can choose which of the different Charge talents (that used to be in seperate specs) they prefer.

That's a good point. It is nice to have Typhoon as a resto druid. It's useful in the garden, though it tends to kill my chickens. I'm probably not a very good farmer.

I'm on Scryers as of tonight.
PLUS...
I was able to get my original character name! (Cheval, of course)
Although the character is still a rogue, he is not human.
He is a Worgen. Only a Lvl 4 right now, but working on it. ;)
