Anyone watching this show? I was intrigued when it came out and I have to say I have found that I really like this show. The main Character is Mr. Finch who is played by the guy who played Ben on LOST.
The opening narrative explains the show pretty well:
You are being watched. The government has a secret system--a machine that spies on you every hour of every day. I know because...I built it. I designed the machine to detect acts of terror but it sees everything...violent crimes involving ordinary people; people like you, crimes the government considered irrelevant. They wouldn't act so I decided I would, but I needed a partner--someone with the skills to intervene. Hunted by the authorities, we work in secret. You will never find us. But victim or perpetrator, if your number's up, we'll find you.

I've been watching it [btw, it's person of interest, you musta been distracted by your number coming up ]. I enjoy it, but not awe-inspiring.
And you didn't mention it has Jim Caviezel as Finch's partner...I've always liked him, even though I was bored by "Passion of the Christ."

If any show is channeling LOST these days, it's Alcatraz. The one with Hurley in it. Even the music is the same. Even has flashbacks. Even has mysterious metaphysical phenomenon.
Haven't seen POI. Not into what they call these days "police procedurals".

Alcatraz is...and you forgot improbable character connections, [almost square root of 6 degrees of Kevin Bacon]. There's other stuff, too [hell I think everyone involved off-screen is a Lost vet].
I wouldn't call POI a police procedural, really...though I guess maybe it is a spin-off or sub-type...and at least the guy who played Ben is showing some character range as Finch...the guy who played Hurley is playing him again, only the names have changed.

POI is not a police procedural. They aren't solving crimes; they're trying to prevent them. Like the episode in which the young doctor intends to murder the serial rapist (roofie user) who caused her sister's suicide.
For me, the fact that both Finch and Reese are trying to atone for their pasts, of which we only know from the briefest of flashbacks, also makes this TV of Interest.

POI is cool as hell! It's like Batman without the costumes---I'm not watching much TV at all lately, waiting for Game of Thrones and Boardwalk Empire to start again, lost interest this season in NCIS and ors two local shows; Breaking Bad and In Plain Sight just ended their runs-but Person of Interest ALWAYS grabs my attention!

I loved the bit with the dog. Reese just seems to find the weakness no matter the odds. Like Danlo said, Batman with a simpler set of tools.
...and the season is complete. Lots of unresolved threads for the minor characters in the cast. Vraith and ItisWritten will be happy that Amy Acker's character seems POIsed for an even more key role in the next season.

Looks good. Not mind-blowing; but how many shows started out mind-blowing and ...you know. Even the X-Files got off to a bit of a slow start. So I'm looking forward to more.

Keep watching, deer. While season three is still a question mark and the first two seasons had flat spots as well as real highlights...this is a powerful series with plenty of unanswered questions-that-matter-to-the-attentive-viewer.
In the Tank, there would be those who would look at this show and say "I told you so!" as well as those who would be steadfast in a "So what?" position. Ignore all that and say Yes to the wonderous stories...

I admit I'm downloading shows through torrent. It's really the only way I can watch tv. I feel I am borrowing it from a library, just like I would go to null's house and borrow the dvd. So there.
I'm about 12 episodes in and continue to be impressed!! Good character development, and the stories, which at first threatened to be formulaic (hot babe messes with the wrong guy and needs rescue) it's turning out anything but. John is an excellent flawed hero, a wounded warrior (Batman voice aside). All the characters are intriguing, although i do wonder when Fusco will poop his pants-- he got good kind of fast. Anyway I am very much sucked in.

I've seen bits and pieces with SD and Dam-sel, but I think this is a show I would prefer to watch from the beginning. Kinda like Blacklist, but I somehow missed the opportunity to catch the beginning few episodes of that.
Steep viewing curve to catch up on all past POI, now that it is in its third season. However, Blacklist is new enough that you can easily catch up by watching it via On Demand, now that you've shown us how well that works. Three episodes in, it appears to be worth the effort...but I enjoy James Spader's work.
