Helloooooooooo
Hi there.
Long time fan but found this forum through a member on a Genesis forum I frequent.
Names John...
Live near Liverpool in UK.
Married two kids (both girls)
50 years of age (just)
Been a TC fan since mid 1980's when saw the First Chronicles in a local book shop and being an avid Fantasy reader decided to give them a go. Loved all the First and Second Chronicles and was ver excited when the Last Chronicles came out...But Whoa.......
Not enough Thomas in the first one for me.....
Read the first bbok but wasn't hungry to read anymore
Skip forward three and a bit years and my wife bought me the remaining two books last week so I dived back in and....I'm loving it again...
Think I need to re-read the first book to get back in the swing (or "Match fit" as we say in UK)
So, hoping to learn stuff here and contribute to discussions...When I finish the remaining books that is
Best wishes
John

Hello John!
There's been a lively discussion about Runes of the Earth here

I am playing all the right notes, but not necessarily in the right order!

Welcome John.
You and I both began our fandom of the Chrons at roughly the same time so I can relate to your point of view.
My experience with the Last Chrons was similar.
I plan to re read the previous 3 books before embarking on the last but all in all I can still say with confidence that the Chronicles of Thomas Covenant is still my favorite series of books bar none.

Re: Helloooooooooo
Greetings, John Wilkinson. I will even withhold my Despite reserved for the newbs for now, since you arrived from a Genesis forum. But do keep in mind that my Despite will be easy to deserve with fresh achievements - and far not so easy to get rid of.
To start with, I find the disliking so many people have for Linden quite questionable... she can be such a a useful tool But somehow I think this doesn't place me with the Linden's Army.
Of course, it could be argued from the post-TLD point of view, but I have my arguments for that as well.

Spoiler
Which, of course, I'm not going to write here for all those who look under the spoiler to read.

Last thing I heard about The Staff of Law was rumors of George W. Re: Helloooooooooo
LOL. I can't take credit for it. Back in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, in the Political Forum here (Hile Troy's Think Tank), when there was alot of blaming Pres. Bush for the slow response because New Orleans has such a high percentage of population of Black people (And likewise alot of defending him on the Other side of the aisle) someone popped out with that sarcastically (I think it was Cail) and now every time I think of the SoL, I can't help but picture Pres. Bush, on an island in the Atlantic somewhere, holding up the SoL and muttering to create the Hurricane for Political reasonsJohn Wilkinson wrote:Superb stuffsindatur wrote:Last thing I heard about The Staff of Law was rumors of George W. That could actually explain his looks as well... the Staff tends to get unhealthy in the wrong hands
