Reading and writing really sucks when your drunk...,
I always thought that The Power of Command was one of those monkeys paw type deals (sorry if someone already said that, I can't be bothered to read all this thread) be careful what you wish for...
Elena was flawed from birth (can't remember who said that, Trell maybe?) I think SRD had it in mind to destroy her in this pointless way and have her come back and haunt TC (his past crime coming back to punish him as it were) so whatever she commanded would have been bad - because of her nature (flawed) I like to think that if Mhoram had the chance to taste the 7th ward his command would have been better thought out, but then power corrupts and absolute power ..... ,

I don't remember why, but I just read TIW over so I know it's true...Ya can't command LF in anyway. Amok says it. Maybe because he's from outside the arch? But I think you can do anything else, right? And the obeying of the commands is literal...i.e. If you command the Illearth Bane to cease existing then maybe the power will just work uncontained by the stone...I wouldn't use it at all in real life. 'Cuz somethin's gonna get screwed up.

Don't think so
I think that Mhoram would be wise enough not to use the Earthblood in any way. Elena was flawed, it is true, but Mhoram knew enough that any wish could hurt the land.

my wish on the earthblood
just think... if caerroil wildwood could destroy a whole army and a giant-raver, what would a million forestals be able to do? how about a billion? hell, forget the forestals, how about the colossus, lets have a few million of those, the combined power would b more than a match 4 nething foul could eventually come up with!
or why not wish that the lord had and could use all the other 6 wards of Kevins lore? true they would be just as powerful as kevin, bu there would be 5? (i think it was 5) lords that could use it, rather than just kevin.
perhaps command the sandgorgons to come to the land and destroy lord fouls armies
command the wild magic to obey the staff of law <- thats quite a good one...
how about... just how about... command the earthlore to become more powerful than lord foul... the earthlore is landborne, and therefore can be commanded... so u command it to be more powerful than lord foul... if it didn't actually do it, damn it'd b a hell of a challenge to lord foul.
perhaps command that the land would not be harmed by lord foul in any way, so even then, the sunbane would do shit all
how about command the ravers to serve the land, they're landborne, it could be done...
my fave, have the staff of law command the wild magic also.

I like the Idea of enlisting the forestals in the battles with fouls minions, they could not leave the forrests, but sure could help defeat the despiser when he attacted the upper land.

There were other Lords at the time, Kevin was "just" the High Lord.Forestal wrote:or why not wish that the lord had and could use all the other 6 wards of Kevins lore? true they would be just as powerful as kevin, bu there would be 5? The Power of Command has no power over the white gold.Forestal wrote:command the wild magic to obey the staff of law <- thats quite a good one...
I wonder if a Command needs to be more specific than that. Maybe you would have to tell the earthlore how to become more powerful. One nasty consequence that springs to mind, though, is that the Earthpower might become so powerful that it burns everything to ash.Forestal wrote:how about... just how about... command the earthlore to become more powerful than lord foul... the earthlore is landborne, and therefore can be commanded... so u command it to be more powerful than lord foul... if it didn't actually do it, damn it'd b a hell of a challenge to lord foul.
This gets my same question about whether you would have to tell it how to not be harmed.Forestal wrote:perhaps command that the land would not be harmed by lord foul in any way, so even then, the sunbane would do shit all
That seems doable!!!!Forestal wrote:how about command the ravers to serve the land, they're landborne, it could be done...
It just occurred to me that Elena made two commands: 1) "Come back from the dead." 2) "Go fight Foul." Or was the overriding idea of "Kevin, be my slave" the only command necessary?
And you know, those Elohim annoy me so much, I think I'd enjoy Commanding them to act like chickens. They can actually turn into chickens, after all.

Re: my wish on the earthblood
actually u've got a good point there..., elena used 2 commands, but kevin didn't fight foul, so technically the earthblood did do as elena told it.. but as she gave kevin a 2nd command, the earthblood didn't respond, and foul took kevin brilliant suggestion fistIt just occurred to me that Elena made two commands: 1) "Come back from the dead." 2) "Go fight Foul." Lords Fowl Bane
"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”

I think if I were to command those Elohim, I think a better command might be to fight Foul on behalf of the Land! Though it WOULD be fun to play with them, I found them to be somewhat annoying! Lord Fowl's Bane!!! LMAO!!
Personally, I don't think any human could use the command well. There are too many variables for anyone to see the possible outcomes, and there's just too much power involved.

I think one of the greatest threats which no one has yet mentioned is that when a natural law would have blood broken, Lord Foul would have been able to do the same thing to the good guys without any Earthblood, like was the case with Elena's command. Foul counter-controlled Kevin and later raised Elena to serve him.
Now if Elena had made the Ravers good by forcing their morality change to be in accordance with her will, Foul would have simply turned them back to evil again and then went on to play tricks with the personalities of the people of the Land. If Elena had wished for a sandwich to magically appear, Lord Foul would have next wished some nastier stuff into being, or alternatively caused foodstuffs and other things, perhaps even people, to vanish from Revelstone and reappear in Ridjeck Thome, depending on which particular law the sandwich had chosen to break.

If I drank the Earthblood, my command would be...
Well, this is a tough one. To tell you the truth, I wouldn't change a thing about the Land. Like many of you have said before, no mortal could make a wise decision or one without some major flaw that would turn us all upside down and cause evil PB&J sandwhiches to rule the Universe. The safest way to go would be to not drink the Earthblood in the first place. Or at least find and study all of Kevin's wards before you drink it. Ah well. If you wanted to be a risk-taker I suppose you could command for Lord Foul to become completely brain-dead or something... but that would cause some problems as well. Well, ( as we say in Texas) see "ya'll" later.

I like the idea of the Forestals the best, but how about this one: Command that all banes destoy themselves with the full portent of their power the next time each was used. That way it would have taken care of the Ravers using their fragments and Foul when he used his (he was using it in TIW, right?). And upon "victory," let the Land know that all banes found thenceforth should never be used.
What Law could that Command break?
