Haven't read TLD yet but this view hits the spot for me. IMO AATE was 'overwritten' - SRD himself has admited himself many times that this is a 'fault' of his. Perhaps under the guiding hand of an editor with a bit more 'clout' (think LDR) this would have been done and the end result would have been a more pleasing and rounded trilogy instead of four heavyweight books that have been frankly a bit of a trawl in places.

So you mean that I finished TLD over the weekend and pestered dlb into letting me into this forum today...because I didn't want spoilers before I'd read the book, like happened with AATE...and YOU GUYS HAVEN'T BEEN POSTING ANY SPOILERS?!?!?

Why I oughta.... :x

;)

(I thought it was *really* good. This is the first SRD book since A Man Rides Through that I finished with a grin on my face. :) Of course, YMMV... )

Your Mileage May Vary

And as a fellow reader of TLD, and based on reactions to the other books, I have no doubt this will be the case *shrug*

I started it yesterday morning and am about 50 pages in (out of nearly 600). It's great to be back in The Land again!

My local bookseller, who must not be named, wasn't concerned about the official street date and sold TLD to me today! I'm a busy person and I don't read all that quickly, but I'm going to start it tonight! I haven't been this excited for a book in a very long time.

God bless that simple book merchant. Wish I could find one like that.

Oh God, please never make that comparison again. The Dark Tower ended with an enormous thud. One of the greatest literary choke-jobs (or perhaps rush-jobs) of all time.

I've read it and can tell you it was all a bit of an anti-climax!

I have read it, tried so hard to take my time but just could not. It had a strange effect - I feel really low, but not because of the story but because it's over.
