Which One Of Thomas' Dead Did He The Most?
Did he love Elena, Mhoram, Bannor, or Foamfollower more? And why do you think so?
Well, to me, he loved Foamfollower most of all. Consider that he loved Elena, yes, but his love for her could never be boundless, because deep inside himself he knew she was his daughter, and also, he was afraid of her - and felt guilty for her fall. As for Bannor, he loved Bannor in his own way, but he could not understand the former Bloodguard completely, and thus I would rule him out too. That leaves Mhoram and Foamfollower: a hard choice indeed. Both became friends to Covenant: Mhoram was, however, of higher station in Covenant's view: his Lordship put him beyond reach so to speak - a friend, yes, but dignified, a man so tall in stature and power that Covenant could not relate to him as an equal. Of course, Covenant also spent little time with Mhoram, during his four summonings - Foamfollower, on the other hand, was almost always there, to cheer Covenant up and urge him forward, unafraid to take any risks for his friend - even though Covenant didn't feel like he was giving anything in return, and often felt ashamed that Foamfollower would do so much for him, since he considered himself unworthy of that kind of friendship. Remember that Foamfollower gave his life for Covenant on Hotash Slay ( or at least was willing to ); and it was he who, indirectly, suggested Covenant the way to defeat Foul. In a very real sense, they defeated Foul together, Foamfollower and Covenant - and even through the Second Chronicles, he was the one Covenant's thoughts ran more often to. He was the one who taught Covenant about friendship and laughter once more - and the first being who trusted him even knowing who he truly was, even knowing of his dark deeds such as Lena's rape.
The Foamster.
That settles it then.
That settles it then.

heh. And you say I don't explain myself...danlo wrote:Foamy

I agree... But I think he loved them in different ways... All different kinds of love... For example... he loved Elena in a way he could not love Foamfollower... because she was his daughter... But he valued Mhoram more than anyone... Because Linden even says something along the lines of:
I think though... That Thomas, in the Second Chronicles, would have reacted most strongly to an insult against Foamy than the others...He values you more than anyone. Everytime I turn around he says he wishes you were with him
I always wondered why the Ur-Viles gave Vain to Foam and not one of the others... I mean I assume it's because they knew that he loved the Gaint more than the others... yet how did they know?
the Urviles undoubtedly knew much the same way as some of Hamako's Waynhim did. They were young in the days of the Lords.
Or it could have been thier Wurd.
Or it could have been thier Wurd.

He felt the most emotionaly attached to Foamfollower, because he was... well... manythign Covenant couldn't be.
He was an exelent storyteller, he had freedom, and didn't have limitations or doubt about the land. MOst of all, don't forget, he saved Covenant in mltiple ways. Including Vain becoming the SoL, the sur-jeherrin by being the Pure One, and in Hotash Slay by getting him across.

Foamfollower CARRIED Covenant across Hot Ash Slay. That act alone would endear him closer than anyone.

A child he didn't know about until she was 40 years old. That's not exactly close. Plus she was a product of rape and Covenant's weakness. Not something Covenant wanted to think about.
