I campaigned for and met Bill Bradley (NBA Hall of Famer). I met actors John Cazale (Dog Day Afternoon, Godfather and The Deer Hunter) and Fritz Weaver at the Long Wharf Theater in New Haven CT. My prospective Godfather (I elected not to be baptized) was David Dodge who wrote To Catch a Thief (the story the Hitchcock film was apapted from) and other writers I've met include, SRD, Roger Zelazny, George R. R. Martin, Jack Williamson, Jimmy Santiago Baca, Jane Linkskold, Walter Jon Williams, Charles de Lint, Fred Saberhagen, Roger Vardeman, Spider Robinson, S. M. Sterling and N. Scott Momaday.
I also ran out on the street and scared the crap out of Dave Mason in Greenwich Village, NYC '76 (Traffic's guitarist and famous solo artist) almost causing him to drop one of his three guitars as we shook hands. (And was thrown off stage by Rick Wakeman at a Yes concert--but don't ask how that happened

(oh and seeing Roland's post--my great, great, great, great grandaunt was 1st Lady Julia Dent (Grant) and I'm directly related to Francis Marion "The Swamp Fox" (...of whom The Patriot was loosely based on)
