Huh. My '04 Civic has paint flaking off the front bumper. It doesn't look as bad as yours got, partly because mine is a silver/gray, so it shows a bit less.

BUT, that's the least of my concerns with the car right now, so it's not likely to be addressed any time soon.

What a pain in the ass! Was the new paint job a result of the class action or their efforts to avoid it? I wonder if you could get part of the settlement. I bought an 07 civic hybrid but it was so badly designed I got rid of it in a year.

I hope this paint job lasts for you. Next time buy a Prius. I have an 08 with 140,000, wash it 2x a year , live near the ocean and have no problems with the paint....... or anything else for that matter. And I get 44 mpg. But it sucks in snow.

I can certainly feel your pain. Back in the late 80s I had a Buick Skylark with similar problems. About the time the warranty ran out (of course), paint started flaking off the hood and front side panels. I took it to the dealer and there was nothing they could do, yadda, yadda.

Over the next three years, it kept getting worse. I researched it and found lots of people having the same problem with the same make/model of car. I kept after my dealer, trying to get the problem fixed without having to shell out $2,000+ myself to fix it. Every couple months, I would go in to the dealer and see if there was any kind of recall or service plan or anything. Nada. Then one such visit, I was told that yes, there was a program to repaint these cars... but I had missed the deadline to apply for the repainting.

Are you f-ing kidding me?!? After so many trips into the dealership, I asked them why they didn't notify me of the program. They couldn't answer, they just referred me to a customer hotline which never went anywhere.

After a couple months of trying to get admitted into the program (in vain) I went out and bought a brand new Nissan Altima. Then I took a picture of it, with my wife and I standing in front of it and sent it to the Buick dealership in town, and to the customer service center of Buick and even to the president of the company. Of course I included a note stating how happy I was with my new car and how happy I was that it was *not* a Buick product, which I would never buy again. I never heard back from any of them, but I felt better sending it LOL

I hadn't taken any notice before, but since reading this story I have noticed 2 Honda's of a similar vintage with paint defects of an almost identical nature to those photos of yours, in the last week.
