What a pack of assholes. What business is it of theirs if this guy takes a few weeks off to be with his newborn child?

I don't think I can put it better than that.

Well done.

People need to check federal rules and regulations around paternity/maternity leave before criticizing. Athletes are still employees.

Some people put family before career; there is nothing wrong about that decision and he should not be criticized for it.

I notice, though, that it seemed to be the talk show talking heads who criticized him the most--they are probably just jealous that they aren't fit enough to actually be playing professional sports. They are also of the opinion that sports is the most important thing ever when, in reality, it is just a job. Okay, it may not be like every other job but it is still just a job.

That one guy, Eliason, took the cake, though--he would rather carve his wife up like a piece of meat via unnecessary c-section than miss opening day.

I don't get why they are so upset. Instead of hot-dogging it and slicing her up so he could be available on opening day, he made the choice to be there to support her. This is a man you want on your team: one who doesn't swing for the bleachers when a bunt is needed. One who assesses a situation and does what is needed.

Thank you for lowering the bar on Stupidity, commentators.

Additionally, this sort of leave was collectively bargained by the players and the league to specifically allow this sort of thing...people outside the league should mind their own business.

What the hell was he thinking?
