US Airways tried to screw me over on this trip, by cancelling flights and trying to make me stay an extra day in Albq. I had to cancel with them and re-arrange flights with Delta. Now, I arrive in Albq. about 1pm.

Gotta love the airlines...

EDITED to add: Did I ever post my travel plans? I don't think I did, and I'm too lazy to scroll back through to find out...

Arriving ABQ on Southwest Thursday the 19th at 11:30am. Happy to help with any planning and prep, of course. :)

Departing Thursday the 26th. Making the post-Fest Santa Fe/Ojo Caliente/Taos loop with lorin, Io, u., Frosty, and whoever else....

I'm looking forward to meeting you to, Io. Some Nornireland and Dublin accents can be among the most harsh, and then some can be really soft and gentle

Time to start looking at hotels now. We'll be headed to Santa Fe on Monday 23rd, is that right, ali? So that means I'll need to book accommodation up until the Sunday night. I won't be able to afford the Sheraton, so if anyone knows of a nice hotel/motel for about $60 a night let me know.

the Staybridge where we are staying has nice studio suites with a kitchen. Unfortunately the price went up to 87.00 /night.

Thanks, lorin. I think I checked them out before and found them a bit pricey. I might also like something closer to the centre of town, maybe the Old Town area.

If you are trying to " sell" this event,,which I would strongly consider..I would have something in RED LETTERS on the Front Page of this sight, the Index if You Will, announcing the event and the Link with it. I mean, pay for lodging and food..thats it! That may seem a lot for some..but it may be The Once In A Lifetime Opportunity for others. ..BIG RED LETTERS...

Agreed. Blast away! And if we can manage a banner on the landing page, that would be good, too.

Not sure I posted my travel plans either...I'm basically free for whatever on Saturday and into Sunday morning...and I am staying a hotel or two over from the majority of you:

Flight from SLO to ALB arrives 5:25pm Friday evening 6/20

Staying at the Homewood Suites by Hilton Airport, a 2 min walk from the Staybridge by the airport (I'm a Hilton Honors maybe and I'm using points, hence the different hotel).

Flight from ALB to SLO departs 6:35pm Sunday evening 6/22

I've been having trouble keeping track of who's doing what when :)

Since I've now booked and confirmed anything, I'll ask a few quick questions. First, what kind of attire should we bring for the dinner? I assume it's not overly formal but wanted to make sure. Second, I'm also assuming that it's ok to bring a book for SRD to sign, right? Just making sure.

Dress is casual.

In the past, SRD has been gracious about signing books and posing for photos, don't know why that wouldn't still be the case.

Dinner? Where is it and how can I participate? What does it cost? What about allergies/diet restrictions?

Here is the link to the post last month where danlo mentioned the location and plan for the dinner.

Bringing the details forward, the dinner is at a private room he's booked at the Sheraton, where many are staying and not far from the Staybridge where many others are staying. You participate by showing up; we kind of expect you to! Dinner is about $40 before tax and drinks. As for dietary restrictions, you may want to PM danlo about that...or just choose what you eat with care relative to whatever restrictions you need to follow.

Rest assured that there is always lots of cooperation in providing rides for those who don't have cars. Last time, I had a big Jeep and typically had people from at least three hotels onboard wherever I went. I have a five seat sedan reserved this time (hoping for an upgrade...) and will have Menolly, Dam-sel and Dam-et with me, but there is at least one seat available if nobody else offers you a ride. That goes for dinner, as well as trips to danlo's throughout the fest period and various other excursions...although we are not sure whether we are going to Santa Fe the following week.

Last time I went (well, okay, only time I went) I saw people handing Mr. Donaldson stacks of books, and he was very nice about signing each and every one.

And everyone must bring him a shrubbery. Don't forget.

I don't think allergies are on the menu, but you can ask. I am sure that they can cook up a mean diet restriction though.

But seriously, I think danlo has mentioned that dinner will have a cost of about $40 + tax. I am not sure but I suspect the cost is paid upfront by our agent (danlo) and then we reimburse him, rather than separate checks at the time of the meal. I will inquire about that, actually.

Thanks guys, I figured SRD was pretty laid back about such things. And a shrubbery eh? We talking like bonzai trees or full fledged topiaries? I could sculpt him a flamingo or something.

Then, when you have found the shrubbery, you must cut down the mightiest tree in the forest with... a herring!

Will they let me into the country if I bring a shrubbery???
I am playing all the right notes, but not necessarily in the right order!
