American Hustle

Post by peter »

Saw the movie on Saturday and was very impressed at a number of levels. Jennifer Lawrence was the big suprise for me - she was tip-top in her presentation of Christian Bale's not too smart and very angry 'wronged wife', and naievely sweet as well. 10/10 for her. Bale's cheap con artist and Amy Adams love-struck side-kick were an effective team and were meticulously set in 1970's New York which was reproduced with uncanny accuracy. When Robert de Niro appears [allbeit briefly] as Victor Tellegio, Meyer Lansky's right hand man, what was a simple hustle takes on an absolutely deadly cast and the tension in this short scene becomes almost unbearable.

Based on a true story, the film does have a 'real feel' about it and if it is let down at all I think it is by the final denoument which is done largely by 'voice-over' and seemed to me a bit rushed and skipped over. But all in all a creditable piece of film making made all the more enjoyable by a killer soundtrack and Amy Adams low-cut and exremely loose fitting blouses.

I enjoyed this movie tremendously. It was a lot of fun moreso than a serious stab at art.

The catholic church is the largest pro-pedophillia group in the world, and every member of it is guilty of supporting the rape of children, the ensuing protection of the rapists, and the continuing suffering of the victims.
