Hail!

Post by bannorsfancy »

Longtime Stephen R Donaldson fan, first-time poster. My mom introduced me to the Chronicles when I was about 13 or 14. (I'm turning 33 Thursday the 8th.) I read the First and Second Chronicles multiple times, but never could get my hands on the Gap series. Well, I just finished The Real Story and, oh my! SRD is no one-hit-wonder. The second Gap book is in the mail. Angus Thermopyle is the most honestly written, frighteningly compelling (or is it just plain frightened?) character I have read in a long time, perhaps ever.
Right now I'm again reading the Chronicles 1&2, only this time I get to finish things nicely with the Last Chronicles. No spoilers! But, you knew that. :P :)

Mr Donaldson has influenced my life through his work in immeasurable ways, and I'm glad I seem to have found a place where others might relate.

About me: I'm a writer (like I said, immeasurable ways), currently working on the second draft (or attempt, depending on how you look at it) of my first novel. If I'm not writing, I'm at work, or reading, watching films and, yes, playing video games. :ct03:

Pleased to be here and hope to make some friends.

Welcome to the Watch, bannorsfancy!

Angus does not figure as prominently in Forbidden Knowledge, but know that there are five books in all and the last three are even more compelling than the first two. Many consider the Gap to be SRD's best work.

Look around, read widely in our many fora, and post as you seek fit.

May you thrive here and contribute.

Be Welcome to the Watch, bannorsfancy.
Be Well Come and True.

You may wish to take part in the group read discussion of The Gap Cycle in the Ancillary Documentation forum. But be wary of discussion topics, as there may be spoilers of books you haven't read yet posted.

We are planning and preparing for the fourth Elohimfest with SRD in June. Would there be any chance of you joining us?

My esteemed co-mod did not mention the location. Elohimfest will be in Albuquerque, NM, centering around the weekend of June 21, but there will be Watchers in town for at least a week before and after.

Come if you can...there will likely never be another gathering as large as this one to celebrate the final book in the Chronicles of Thomas Covenant!

Hello Bannorsfancy.

Welcome to the Watch.
I am playing all the right notes, but not necessarily in the right order!

Welcome. I had considered to inquire about Bannor's fancies as well, but the cunning wayfiend got there first.

Ah, spoilers. We had a discussion about those pesky pests mere moments agone! They lurk out there, sniffing at the air, ready to bounce upon you on the most unexpected of moments...

Thank you for the warm welcome all! I will check out the recommended spots for sure. And, sadly, I probably won't make Elohimfest. But I will be happy to hear reports back and see photos!

Welcome aboard, and happy birthday. :D Consider the discovery of the Watch your present to yourself. ;)

The Gap is indeed the best of SRD's writing. I envy you for only just starting that mad journey. :D

Go look around and post. Plenty to do and say here, so have fun.

Hi Bannorsfancy! Oh, and everyone else!
"Fortunate circumstances do not equate to high ideals."

"Mostly muffins sir."- My answer in response to the question posed by the officer, "Son, do you have anything on you I should know about?"

His response: "Holy $&!^. He's not kidding! Look at all these muffins!"

Welcome, bannorsfancy! I'm just starting the Gap Cycle for the first time, myself! Am hoping it's going to be a great journey (both your visits to the Watch and our immersion in the Gap)!
