It is a good thing we all have a general idea about what "the act of being ponified" means or people might get the wrong impression about the Tank.

random person: *looking slightly perplexed*

person's friend: what's the matter?

random person: I went to the Tank....and got ponified.

person's friend: *raises eyebrows* You know, I heard about what they do in there.....

Now we are having talk of sordid affairs, Vikings in floral dresses, and sensible kilts. Is it any wonder I am here so often?
The Tank is gone and now so am I.

Ali, I don't understand what upset her. : ( You know her better, maybe you can talk it through.

S, give me couple of details and you'll get a customized design. I'm not including everyone, but certainly those that want to be a part of the atrocity.

Hashi's favorite font color shall play its own role.

(raises hand) I'll take a pony... (Oh gods, what am I letting myself in for?)

My apartment is feeling kind of claustrophobic. My nephew from Seattle is starting college near us. He and his mom (they're related to us on the ex's side, so it feels weird to call her my sister-in-law...) arrived Tuesday and have been staying with me. Keep in mind that I have a 1-bedroom apartment and Batty is already sleeping on the daybed in the living room. Anyway, he's moving into the dorm today, but it turns out that while he brought his string bass (in a hella big case 8O ) and his D&D books, he didn't pack any bedding. So I get to leave work early today in order to make a humanitarian run to Bed Bath & Beyond.

I think his mom thinks I'm gonna be his surrogate parent, too -- show up to all his concerts and all that stuff. Yeah, no. I didn't even attend all of my own kids' concerts once they went away to college.

It's gonna be an interesting year...

I will defer to your expertise, but are wings an option?

Only if you have a penchant for penguin porn.

That was a fun accidental alliteration.

Umm...what are we talking about again?

I think I need a little lie down.

A, S, yes on both accounts. I was thinking of including the black Gap cat.

Does Cag want a pony (with or without penguin porn)?

Director Donner has read this, and she approves.

Been fighting a cold the last couple of days. Bah.

Wishing for the drier heat of New Mexico the last few days too.

Some of you guys -- the folks who came to the DC Fest, lo these many years past -- have met my friend Kim, whom I've known since my freshman year of college. At her first job out of college, she became fast friends with two other women, and I got to know them both through Kim. One of them died of lung cancer a year or so ago; this week, the other woman died, and today was the memorial service. Kim, another friend, and I attended the service.

Both of these women were in their 60s when they died. That's just too young. We're supposed to live longer, damn it. :(

Kim and I have now made a pact that neither of us will die anytime soon....

Sorry for your loss, Ali.

Stick to your pact.

I read that there was a fairly strong earthquake near SF this morning. I hope you are doing well, Sorus.

Vraith, did you write this book? I was reading a list of the craziest books and this one came up and the sample reading you can do on amazon really reminded me of the writing style you do here for posting with the bracketed asides and sort of stream of consciousness. Admit it, it is you!

No damage here, but thanks for the concern. Cats have stopped glaring at me too; they were of the opinion that I had caused the quake, and were unimpressed.

I was actually just thinking about earthquakes the other day - last night's was the worst we have had in 25 years, which means there are adults who have grown up here and never really been in a quake. Complacency is never a good thing - I always keep a stockpile of bottled water and extra cat food, but a lot of people are probably completely unprepared for a real emergency.

How rude of you to cause the earthquake!

One of our cats has developed a lump on her back near her tail. We took her to the vet two weeks ago and she said it might be from fighting with our other cat (they are indoors cats) so gave us meds for it. However, after a week on the meds, the lump was the same, so we took her in again. This time, she did a biopsy thingie on the lump. It was just fat lumps that she said sometimes happen in cats as they get older (ours is 10). However, our kitty now has a shaved square on her back and a stitch that we have to take out next weekend.

It was strange seeing our cat come home still drugged so that she just lay there as though dead. Our other cat would not go near her (probably in fear of the carrier which always heralds a 'fun' trip to the doctor). When she finally woke up, she did several kitty moans as she staggered around the house. She refused to just lay down in a nest of blankets we made. Instead, she kept trying to walk the house and jump on things (which she missed). Now, she licks her shaved butt a lot and generally makes it red looking. :ct12: :ct12: :ct12:

Cats on drugs are kind of fun. Mr. Pumpkin Kitty would try to rub up against my legs over and over, and sometimes he'd miss. And then we had one who would get mean when she was coming down from anesthesia. I had to lock her in a bedroom 'til she was fit company again.

Sonny just sleeps post surgery. of course he sleeps all day now as it is. he is 14 and takes the hound part of his breed seriously.

in a couple hours I will be at the surgery center getting the shots for my back. then I will be staggering around post-surgery.

a couple days ago I dropped my glasses. must have cause a hairline fracture that I couldn't see. because last night at work while I was in the freezer my lens on the left cracked. a good two inches right in my line of vision. so while I am home sleeping after the surgery Julie has to go and get a lens ordered. I hope it comes in soon. I have a headache from it already. (npo after midnight so no Tylenol.)
