Holy crap. Just saw it. They really aren't afraid to do any damned thing with this show, are they...
These episodes have been fantastic. It's been a show where we watch them arm themselves, fight all the time, get in the safest places they can find, and ending up having to move on for one horrible reason or other. But it's been on to the next adventure! Ah, to be with them, fighting the good fight! Killing without remorse, because the walkers aren't actually alive and there's no question ever of it being self-defense.
But now it's being handed to us in a way that makes us feel it the way the characters have been feeling it all along. A horrifying, bone-crushingly exhausting fight for survival. Not an adventure. Not having fun swinging a sword, but wanting to be able to not just put it down, but throw it away. To be able to take a shower, eat your fill, and sleep in a warm, soft, dry bed. Night after night after night. Bored out of your skull. But that's NOT going to happen. Nothing gives them any hope that, even if they manage to find some relative safety, it won't be taken from them again. And they'll be out in Hell again. Hoping to become numb, because that's better than the relentless sorrow their lives have become.
That's my take on these last episodes, anyway. lol

the Grove was outstanding.
I like the focus on others from the group. but it seems a bit far-fetched that no one from Woodbury survived.
I know we need to focus on the leads. but if everyone is an automatic red shirt how will we grow to love any other characters?

Just when I'm thinking the show is getting better WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT TUNNEL???
Lets walk into a dark tunnel with only one lame woman to help populated with snarling dead instead of going around and losing one day.
Lets not make any noise or shine any lights to attract the walkers out of the tunnel first even though we all know they are attracted to light and noise.
And why was Maggie at the entrance to the tunnel when she had supposedly gone through the tunnel ahead of Glen. Ok assuming she turned back, why was she at the beginning when she wasn't there when Glen entered?
Clearly they were just using shock/surprise and pushed the story line to reunify some of the group.
And Terminus.........lets leave the gates wide open and unlocked. Why not put out tea for the walkers.
And what's with Rosita aka angelina jolie's lips? I mean she sure has kept herself up for someone fighting walkers for a year.
Terrible episode. Terrible. TERRIBLE.

Yup. Lazy/sloppy storytelling.

Exactly! It keeps reminding me of the scene in The Road where the father discovers a house where they are keeping people as food.sgt.null wrote:Terminus = Soylent Green?
Julie agrees the tunnel was idiotic. Glen should be smarter than that.
And what a name......Terminus....termination.....terminal. Subtle.

The tunnel was, indeed, an idiotic move. Pathetic that they had him do that. However, to try to make it a little easier for you to digest. Heh.lorin wrote:Just when I'm thinking the show is getting better WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT TUNNEL???

Maggie was at the exit. Glenn and ... what's-her-name climbed over the rubble, and she got caught. Maggie was on that end already. Out the other side, met the others, was told Glenn was going through the tunnel, and went back in to try to find him.
Also, I don't think walkers can even unwrap a chain to open a gate. Kind of like a horse when the cowboy just loosely wraps the reins around the hitching post. We saw them unwrap a chain at two gates to get into Terminus.

whats her name - tara (I think)
The chain was looped lightly. just leaning on it would undo it.
Either way it is sloppy writing.
I wonder if they are going to kill Rick off. He says no, but I think it is possible.

Terminus is terminal. Who goes to a place called "Terminus" anyway?
Glad to see Rick is coming back to life. Quite a savage scene between Rick and Joe. I always said the mouth is a lethal weapon.
Surprised they didn't wait and watch longer before entering terminus. I think Carol is going to be the one that will save them. I think she is too smart to just walk in there like stupid Glenn et al.

What a surprise, Terminus is a honeypot.
Finally a decent confrontation between Rick's group and Joe's. I've been saying that the aftermath of Z-day would result in a total breakdown in societal norms and a lot more rapiness. Finally, that's brought front and center.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not pro-rape. But there's no doubt that it would be a ton more prevalent in a world with no rules and dim prospects.
At any rate, here we go with the layoff until next season, and frankly I'm unsure whether or not I want to go any farther with this show. For every bit of coolness that the show offers up periodically there's massive stupidity running rampantly across the screen.

several things:
1. Rick has finally had enough, and threating Carl always pisses him off.
2. Where do these people get the ammo to fire continuos bursts just to herd people?
3. Why doesn't someone build a western style fort. I'm absolutely freaking sure that there are plenty of pulp wood groves for timber, and once the walls are build, you can then begin to build stone wall behind them (believe me, Georgia grows rocks like you wouldn't believe).
4. Rick leave someone outside for a couple of days just for such an eventuallity?
Hopefully we'll get a few answers in October.

Did you see the episode of Talking Dead after the season finale? Andrew Lincoln who plays Rick made a good point about his character. He says that he feels Rick has finally come to terms with the two sides of his personality. He now accepts his own brutality.

any group that cleaved together and worked at building a defensible position would do ok in this world.
the prison should have been that place, but as Cail has pointed out, they screwed that one up.
fencing is available. find an engineer and work at building yourself a safe place.
and no one can figure out how to make their own bullets? we have the tech at my local (work) firing range.

Great point. My dad used to make bullets in the basement. I frequently helped. It was kinda fun with all the equipment he had.sgt.null wrote:and no one can figure out how to make their own bullets? we have the tech at my local (work) firing range.
