Twin Peaks?
just watched the movie 'Fire Walk With Me' last night for the first time since it was at the cinemas ..
the scene where Laura and Donna go to a bizarre, sleazy club in Canada is amazing;
loud, pulsing music, so loud that the dialogue is sub-titled .. weird disjointed, druggy talk and explicit sexual acts openly performed within the hellish club - a hole cut into the roof lets red light seep thru, it's like a hole into hell ... a sexy, wasted hell

I'm sure everyone who loved Twin Peaks already knows this, but it's coming to Showtime in 2016, apparently.
When I first heard the rumor, I was on the launchpad, counting down to going ballistic cuz it was said to be a reboot/remake.
But NO. New episodes, and continuing the story not some stupid prequel crap it seems.

the difference between evidence and sources: whether they come from the horse's mouth or a horse's ass.

the hyperbole is a beauty...for we are then allowed to say a little more than the truth...and language is more efficient when it goes beyond reality than when it stops short of it.

I'm kinda worried...it's got a lot to live up to. I love it that the show ended with "see you in 25 years" and it will be 25 years when the new part starts.Zarathustra wrote:Apparently, that show I liked is coming back in style! I was just thinking about this the other day, how disappointing it was the way this show ended.
[though yea, that was a kinda weak ending, and it's no fun waiting 25 years for the rest, and don't even know if it's ever gonna happen...wait...that sounds familiar...

I only saw...oh, about 1/2?... of that, then my schedule changed...but I thought it was pretty good, I'll catch the rest eventually.sgt.null wrote:I worried that Fargo was going to be awful, but the remix was excellent.
Extending Twin Peaks, though...more complicated, I think.
It's got a deeper background that you have to be very careful not to retcon
in significant ways, for one thing.
Also, so many things in it were pretty groundbreaking at the time...and you have to do some things similarly to keep the feel of the whole. At the same time, many of those things have been borrowed and used by many other shows now...they're part of the ordinary "vocabulary." So you have to make changes to avoid stale/boring.
I have high hopes...but am also prepared to feel like "well, at least they tried."
