Freaking CAIL just mentioned a film in another thread, and because of that I have the Judas Priest song "A Touch of Evil" buzzing in my head. Knowing me, it will be there for days now.
Don't get me wrong, it is a ripping good tune no matter what anyone but me might think...
But shit, how would you feel if everything everyone said to you was accompanied by a wailing/rending scream of "You're possessing me!?"

"Most people are other people. Their thoughts are someone else's opinions, their lives a mimicry, their passions a quotation."
the hyperbole is a beauty...for we are then allowed to say a little more than the truth...and language is more efficient when it goes beyond reality than when it stops short of it.

Ouch.
"People without hope not only don't write novels, but what is more to the point, they don't read them.
They don't take long looks at anything, because they lack the courage.
The way to despair is to refuse to have any kind of experience, and the novel, of course, is a way to have experience."
-Flannery O'Connor

Thankfully, I have a lovely song playing for hours in my head and I just don't get tired of it.

Sabon rai, ka bani, nagode
Ceto, ka bani, nagode
Taimako, ka bani, nagode
Nasara, ka bani, nagode
Iyali, ka bani, nagode
Abokane, ka bani, nagode

It's in Hausa.

If you need something beautiful stuck in your head today, give a listen here.

first of all, the lyric stuck in my head is:
'my hair would stick up in weird places'
...from the 'things I prayed for in my teens' part of the song "Things I prayed for":
Eli (?) wrote:Things I prayed for when I was young
That my father would love me like his only son
That my mother would be patient with me
And my sister would not leave

And if my grandpa could see me beyond his grave
That he'd think his little man was so great
That my hair would not stick up in weird places
And I'd be someone someday
It might be by a Christian... but I think this song is a human story...
Who WOULDN'T want to ask God things like this?

ummm, wow... the nagode video is beautiful.
I also saw the music video of that guy singing nagode in an urban context, and it is triipppppppy.
Reminds me of... I don't know? Japanese music video? South Korean music video? made me laugh.
I am happy that Meredith gets to see Nigerians producing good art.

Since hearing it about a week ago I have the lyric "Lonely this Christmas" stuck in my head from a song by a band called Mud that was recorded in the 70s. I've even been singing it to myself at various points during the day...

Let it go, let it go. That damn song from "Frozen". My 3 year old grandaughter just won't stop singing it. Now she has a "Frozen" costume for Christmas!!
I am playing all the right notes, but not necessarily in the right order!

OMG, Batty downloaded a YouTube video of "Let It Go" sung in about a billion languages. If that doesn't get the tune stuck in your head, nothing will!

Crazy day today... This was way better for me than the first 3 or 4 tunes I chose when I got home...

I don't appreciate songs as much if I have no idea what's being said in the lyrics...

I'm not even sure what the song is, but I've heard it quite a few times and it's in my head because I heard it again lately.

It's a rock song that I think was used in the soundtrack of a movie, and the chorus is something like "Oh, don't let me down" (might have words wrong). The tune is stuck in my head right now...

I watched "Anchorman 2" over the weekend, and a couple of songs from that soundtrack have been playing round-robin in my head. Right now, Neil Diamond's "Shiloh" seems to be winning. :(

Right now, Tom Waits' Downtown Train is plowing it's way through my mind, destroying all in it's path.

don't know the song (which is usually the case for me) but nice visual / metaphor thingy, man.

Ali- you amused me with the mention of that Disney song (which I shall not name) in different languages... sounded painful.

It wasn't as bad as it could have been. It's a pretty song, and the singers were apparently trained so that their voices sounded very much like Idina Menzel's.

I'd post a link to it, but somebody would accuse me of implanting an earworm....

Oh heck. Here you go. Click through at your peril.

If you've never listened to him before, his voice may take some getting used to. It's not a traditional style voice.

I think the first Tom Waits I ever heard was someone playing me the Small Change album. The songs are way too good for me to ever think there's a problem with his voice.

I like his voice, but I can see where it is quite different if you're used to, say, modern pop stars or classically trained singers.

I like artists with unconventional voices, Tom Waits included.

Currently channeling the theme song to MST3K, thanks to a WoW friend.
