IIRC, in TPTP Foul is invisible, surrounded by a corona of Illearth green. We see him in WGW, but he is sort of blurred out, like in those police chase programmes

DaFoe's got sorta a leonine head but you'd either have to pad or animate his chest, cause he has none, at all

I don't think leonine means the features here :P I rather picture a mature man with a flowing grey hair, you know like a Greek God on a painting... or like Sean Connery in The Rock when he came out of prison.

Yeah, Foul had to be a pretty impressive looking dude. Also charismatic, to be prominent in Kevin's counsel.

I dunno folks.
When I saw Jackson's representation of Sauron for LOTR's I thought that is basically how Foul would be. No, not a great big firey eye, but more etheral <sic> and intangiable. No facial features at all except for his err, firery eyes.
Finding the right VOCAL for Foul would be a good challenge. I still get this idea that he has this BOOMING DEEP voice. But then something like Connery or Hopkins would be good I guess. Too bad James Earl Jones (aka voice of Darth Vader) is passed on.

He's not quite deep-voiced enough for my liking, but Patrick Stewart. I suppose he could put on a deep voice... (Bear in mind that, being English, all the Landspeople have English accents as far as I'm concerned :| )

I haven't read the whole thread as of yet. But here's my suggestions

Thomas - Guy Pierce or Tom Hanks EDIT: I forgot Kevin Spacey as a choice

Mhoram - Tom Hanks or Christian Bale

Saltheart Foamfollower - Russel Crowe or Hugh Jackman. (WETA could do the CGI and make them taller like they made the hobbits shorter.)

Hmmm....while we're posting suggestions, mine are:

TC: Viggo Mortensen
Foamfollower: Liam Neeson (I'm having a hard time deciding if I actually think he'd be good for the role, or if I'm just biased because the guy is HUGE)
Lord Osondrea: Dame Maggie Smith

I think Ewan McGregor should play TC in a very small thong. No but seriously. He looked quite sick in Trainspotting. Maybe he isn't old enough(?)

I think Mira Furlan (Ambassador Delenn in Babylon 5) would make a magnificent Memla na-Mhoram-in, the Clave member who converts to TC's side. She excels at portraying offended dignity.

A few days ago, rereading the scene where Memla tells TC she found out the Clave had lied to her, I heard her words in Furlan's voice...

I think Keanu would be great, although I always see TC as being old and somewhat haggard.

What about Jean-Claude Van Dam for haruchia?

Ever see all those kickboxer movies??

He'd have to give up all the "hiyaa's" and slow motion "aaaahhhh's", but he might be able to pull it off....

Van Damme is an even worse actor than Mr. Gov'nor of California and that's something.
