I'm reading Sanaya Roman's LIVING WITH JOY. The third of the three, SPIRITUAL GROWTH, was so good I started the whole series over again.

For those picking and choosing, it's channeled metaphysics.

Having just finished spending a few days glancing and reading through the Dustcovers for Sandman by Dave McKean and Neil Gaiman. Then I finally made a start on Lord Foul's Bane. Am about half way through and enjoying it thoroughly. Makes a nice change from all the crime and thrillers I have been getting used to.

I bought Marcia Muller's CYANIDE WELLS yesterday. I'm not likely to get to it very soon, but I thoroughly enjoy Marcia Muller's mysteries.

I have finally picked up A Game of Thrones, my first George R.R. Martin book. After only reading the prolog and the first chapter I am enthralled and totally impressed. I'm only sorry it took me so long to discover Martin. Unlike the other two books I'm reading (The Gunlsinger and Dragonflight) this book spoke to me from the first paragraph. It clearly said "Tom. I am going to knock your socks off so hang on to something." I can’t wait to read the rest.

In addition to my well publicised venture into the Dark Tower, I'm also re-reading my Anne Rice collection. I only have the first four Vampire books, but I've never been able to bring myself to read more, despite enjoying the ones I have read. The next in the series is Memnoch the Devil, but I find myself tiring somewhat of Lestat's escapades. I'd like to read more of Pandora and Armand.

I'm kinda getting into Russian Lit.
Am reading 'The Master & Margarita' by Bulgakov. Its a classic and I'm hooked.

I'm doing much reading at the moment. I'm still in the process of reading Mordant's Need and Reave the Just and I had started on LotR (although I must concede that it's probably going to take me a year or two, largely because I bought the big shiny hardback versions that I can't read anywhere but at home).

I foolishly wandered into Borders in Leicester the other day, and now I'm working my way through through Join Me by Danny Wallace (the true story of the man who started a cult by accident), Iain M. Banks' short story collection The State of the Art, The Selfish Gene by Richard Dawkins and Lynne Truss' book on the state of punctuation in the English language, Eats, Shoots and Leaves (I'm not an English buff, but it is really funny).

I've also been reading The Speed of Dark by Elizabeth Moon, which is written from the perspective of an autistic man. I'm finding that tough going, not least because I find myself thinking in the same way as the central character after I've been reading for a while.

So, eight books. It's no wonder it takes me so long to finish anything.

My Mom just sent me Among the Believers by V. S. Niapaul an author I really respect. She says it will convience this Islam apologist that all Muslims are bent on world domination.

Well Mom I also read Anne Frank so I can't totally believe it...I'll find some time to fit it in.

I am reading a very fun collection of short stories by a variety of authors called Scottish Girls on the Town.

A group of Scottish writers (women all) put out this anthology and the proceeds go to charity.

Reading THE STREETBIRD by mystery writer Janwillem van de Wetering. His Dutch background and settings make an intriguing mix with his zen training. I always enjoy his books.
