Bastards. I've looked into it. Only registered members can now see imageshack images. Either that, or you have to register your domain with them.

Appears to be a way round it. Am looking into it.

(Oh, I feel good...no work until next thursday. :D )

Good for you!

That's a sad story Lorin.

Sorry about your cat, Sorus.

Grey day today. Yesterday around noon was the only fair bit of sun all week. It looks like it will be nice if cool this weekend. Might be a good time to get some golf in.

Here's one that'll lighten things up:

Last night I went to Applebee's with some friends to watch the Blazers game (side note: they won!). Anyway, when I was outside, I thought I saw one of the guys I was meeting inside. So, I was looking in the window as I walked, and I walked smack into one of those handicap parking signs.

Got a nice little cut over my eye as a result

Oh, and about half the restaurant saw me do it

Sunday and Monday off work! Cook dinner for my wife tomorrow and it's going to be a belter. Plaice fishcakes stuffed with asparagus and lemon sauce followed by peppered steak in madeira and brandy sauce, mange tout and dauphinoise potatoes and lastly New York vanilla cheesecake with a physalis jus. How good is that!

My parents had a barbecue this afternoon, so the house is full of very drunk middle-aged punks.

Edit: Ventured downstairs, the hallway and bathroom are now covered in vomit.

Looks like fun, Phantasm -- enjoy!

Maybe I'm getting cranky in my old age, I dunno. On Thursday, there was a conversation at the lunch table about going to church during Holy Week, during which I was conspicuously (I thought) silent. On the way out of the cafeteria, one of my co-workers asked whether I was doing anything special with the girls for Easter. So I told her that I'm not Christian, that Magickmaker and I are Pagan and Batty's agnostic, and our spring holiday was last month. "Oh," she says, "I didn't know that." And then she went on to talk about her brother who's agnostic. All well and good.

Then yesterday on her way out the door, she wished me a happy Easter. "Same to you," I sort of muttered.

Now maybe it was a reflexive thing -- she's Catholic, she's thinking about what she's got to do to get ready for Easter Sunday, it's what you say to a majority of Americans at this time of year, etc. But we'd had the conversation *just the day before*.

I don't usually talk about religion with co-workers. But I'm beginning to think I'm going to have to be more open about it. I think I'm going to have to work in some comments at lunch this week about planning my Beltane ritual.

Depending on how accepting of diversity your coworker is, that could be fun.

I know Dam-sel and I are looking forward to Beltane next weekend, since it is also our anniversary. In particular, I am looking forward to it, since I have quite the surprise planned for her...something appropriate to the number of years we are celebrating.

I had a customer tell me happy easter today and I said, "Oh thanks but I'm a Buddhist." Then again, it is Berkeley so her reaction was just, "oh, cool." I do believe it was probably totally reflexive Aliantha. She probably realized her mistake the moment you had your mumbly nonplussed reaction and then didn't know how to take it back or smooth it over. I have also been known to say Shalom when someone wishes me a happy (insert Christian holiday here) and that often gets an amusing reaction. People who get all excited about holidays and plans and so forth, especially religious ones are often just so happy about the upcoming event that they don't think about the fact that not everyone is as excited as they are so I wouldn't take it personally.

I had a great day at work despite the several crazies I had to deal with. We had a lot of chores but my team knocked them out like rock stars and I made a point of telling them so a couple of times when certain things got finished and then late in the shift by asking them what kind of cookies they wanted for their reward next Saturday. Nate wanted peanut butter and Ari said macadamia/white chocolate chip so I said, "What if I put them together as one?" and they got all excited. At the end of the night when we were leaving and locking the store I said, "Seriously, you guys were so amazing tonight, the store looks showroom perfect, especially the receiving area, Nate, all on top of a thousand dollar furniture sale, you were on fire tonight my friend." gave him a high five and turned to Ari, "Nice job on tech sales Ari and the tech recovery was fab and nice job on pulling down the old sale." gave him a high five and turned to Jenn, "Jenn, you rocked the copy center sales with that last one so we doubled our number goal, excellent" high five to her and on to Erick, "Erick, front end was super clean and your worklife rewards number was again off the hook. Make sure to rub it in Seth's face that you got 13 when he doubted you would get me at least ten." another high five, "Thank you guys for making us all look like ROCK STARS and if Ashley finds one thing to complain about I would be shocked. Now let's get the hell out of here." I turned to set the alarm and Ari says to the new security guard, "And that's why I told you she's the cool one."

I just don't understand why so many people in management don't understand that if you motivate and participate rather than berate you get much better results. I am not normally the closing manager on Saturdays. I switched with Edward because he asked last minute and I agreed. His closings are the worst of any manager in the store. He doesn't participate but rather walks around barking orders and so he gets half assed results. I'm sure my manager will have something to say to him especially after she finds out that I did that all even with one person going home early and saving four hours of payroll. Hmmm.....

Jenn, *you're* the rock star. :)

I actually thought about replying to my co-worker, "And a happy Passover to you, too!" But, yeah, I'm sure it wasn't personal. I'm just getting crotchety, I guess...

My vacuum cleaner has wheezed its last, I'm afraid. It's at least 15 years old, so I guess I shouldn't complain. But still, now I've got to get another vacuum cleaner. All the inexpensive machines these days seem to be bagless, which is not a fabulous option for someone with an allergy to dust. (Seriously, you make a vacuum with a HEPA filter and then make it bagless? So the person emptying the dust reservoir gets a snootful of crud regardless? What kind of sense does that make?)

See, I told you I was getting crotchety....

Thanks! I ended up stopping at Sears on the way home from work and getting a Hoover. But the Eureka looks good, too. Maybe I shoulda looked longer before I went ahead and bought one, but I'd been putting off vacuuming (for, like, months) because I knew the old one was dying, and things were getting desperate. 8O

Heh, that reminds me that I need to fix my old Kirby.....it was the victim of my ex vacuuming and not noticing (or caring about) marbles the kids left on the floor.

If today is the anniversary of the day that Jesus rose from the dead, doesn't that make it zombie day?
