I assume I said too much in my first post! LOL Sorry, I was just so excited to finally find an active SRD fan site I got carried away.

You are in great company! All of us here are SRD "fanatics" as well, chopping at the bit for the first book of the "Last Chrons"! The wait is going to make me rave soon. :?

Good to have you, FaTeke! :D

Hello and well met to everyone! I've been lurking on the edges of this forum for a few months now, but now I've officially plunged in ;) I'm a fairly new Covenant reader, in that I bought the First Chronicles only this summer, and I picked up the Second Chronicles by Christmas, after I finished the first three books in a couple months and was left hungering for more ;) Unfortunately, I live in Italy, and TC was only translated and printed once, ten or fifteen years ago, and never reprinted; I haven't seen any translated TC books for years now, well, I haven't seen any TC books at all for years to be honest! I was referred to TC by a friend of mine, so when I went to England this summer, I decided I'd try it out and wasn't disappointed at all... I've enjoyed both trilogies, and I'm anxiously waiting for the LC ;)

By the way, I must agree with others - this is one of the most cheerful and friendly forums I've seen in a while - so, well met to everyone!

Hail! I, Satansheart Soulcrusher will now proceed to eradicate all hope from this forum!!!!

I was first introduced to Donaldson by a colleague who likes to expand my mind by lending me books from his extensive library. So far I have been introduced to the works of William Gibson, Iain M. Banks, Peter F. Hamilton, Orson Scott Card, and of course SRD. Anyway, I was blown away by the Gap series so he lent me the 1st Chronicles of TC all together in one big volume. Well I finished that and I want to get started on 2nd Chronicles but his copy has pages 15-72 (from maps to middle of chapter 4) missing. I've posted on the TC forum (e-book thread) asking for anyone to email me The Wounded Land so I can get started reading it, but no luck so far...

Anyway, I figured I'd join the forum having found it through Google. I'm a bit of a TC newbie having only read the 1st chrons and them only once, but I enjoyed them hugely and would love to read the 2nd chrons (and the 3rd when they are done!)

Cheers,

The Grey Slayer

Welcome Satansheart! Welcome and true! 8)
You might want to be careful in the Thomas Covenant forum -- there will be spoilers everywhere in there for the Second Chrons... :?

Hi Xar,
you read the Chronicles in English? Wow! How long did it take you? (You're Italian, aren't you?)

I expect your local bookstore will have it. All the chains in the US do, anyway. That's probably quickest.

I've seen both 1st and 2nd chrons in Waterstones in London, but alas cash is in short supply right now (my kids have to eat...). If only I could spend the 2000 WGDs that some kind soul saw fit to deposit to my account to purchase the electronic version of TWL!

As for spoilers, don't worry, I'm avoiding threads that discuss 2nd chrons in any detail.

Cheers for the welcome all.

Kia Ora Bro,

It's a pleasure to find a discussion group about the works of Stephen Donaldson. I've looked off and on over the past few years, with little success. But then somehow I found this site, and bookmarked it, otherwise I may never have found it again.

Anyway, I'm an ex-pat Brit now resident in Wellington, New Zealand, and I've been a SRD fan since I was loaned all three books of the first chronicles way back in '77.

I remember vividly being 'unwell' and having to go home the day that White Gold Wielder finally came out - in hardback, which was a bit of a surprise.

I like hard-core science-fiction, and fantasy I can believe in, if you know what I mean.

It should be good to chat and perhaps make new friends.

Oh, and my wife and I both have white gold wedding rings. Shazam.

Thanks for the welcome. I'm in Wellington, currently sitting on the 18th floor of the BNZ (or State) Tower, looking out towards the botanical gardens and Carter observatory.

I'm not yet technically a kiwi - I've been here only a year - but I plan on becoming one. Friendliest people I ever met, but then again, I don't get out much.
