Just finished Steve Job's bio last week. Interesting. Currently reading The Hunchback of Notre Dame, re-reading Tacitus' The Annals of Imperial Rome, and mixing in Missing 411 by David Paulides.

I'm reading a book called The Eight by Katherine Neville. (Re-reading I suppose I should say.)
It's sort of a Foucault's Pendulum type of thing, (written in the same year), but with chess. It's pretty good. Always enjoy it.

Alright! How'd you like it?
Over the summer, I think only read 2 books from start to finish, (well, not counting kids' books)..
"Purple Hibiscus" by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and
"Things Fall Apart" by Chinua Achebe
Just finished "Scholar" by Modessitt in the last week or two... finally.

I had that as a set-work book, both at school,
and at university.

Based on some of the stuff I read in the notes, ("among Africa's most famous works of modern literature" or such.) this does not surprise me
at all.
I found it fascinating and pretty hard to put down at various points..
What did you think?

Glad you've been enjoying the series, Sarge!

I enjoyed it more in Uni than at school...having some idea then of what it was about. Certainly poignant.

One of my favourite Bachman books.
I'm reading Carl Hiaasen, Star Island. You'd probably like his books Sarge. Should check him out...library will probably have a few.

started on
I recently caught the movie adaptation on tv and realized I couldn't remember how it was different from the book. so time to bone up the source material.
and it fits the Hunger Games - Long Walk theme.

Love that book, what did you think of Blood Meridian?
Currently: Plutarch's Lives Vol.1, Foucalt's Pendulum (Eco), Discourse on the Origin of Inequality (Rousseau).

Ha! I often suspect that I am the least well read of anyone here. BTW, it sometimes takes years for me to read a book (and sometimes I'm partway through as many as 7 different books). I think I read
Baudolino from 2006-2012, most of that time was the last 150 pages.

I do love Foucalt's Pendulum.
I think I should reread it soon.
