Transcendental meditation; after I posted I went to look at a site or two about it. The first ones always required you to spring some dough fort your enlightenment and when I eventually found one that seemed to offer the teaching for free, it started to go on about how you could use it to obtain all your wishes and shed loads of dosh as well. I gave it up after that.

That's very British-sounding. I mean that in the best possible way.

We're super-understaffed at work, and the flu is going around. Last week when the sick folks tried to call out, they were told to suck it up and come in. Exact quote. Now the person who made that decree is sick, and blaming the people they forced to work while sick.

I am the only one in my department who hasn't gotten it, and I suppose it's only a matter of time.

I hate being sick, mostly coz I dont really get sick. Since I retired had pretty good health. Just lucky I guess. But not working in close quarters with lots of people has been good for me

I feel a sense of resolve today ... mostly I feel like a powerhouse of happiness and positivity. Had a recent mis step .. but am on the road to permanent resolve.

I feel .. coz this is a feeling thread ... that we have to love ourselves. Sure others can love us and that is wonderful but if we dont truly love ourselves, the love of others is wasted on us.

I feel that to be truly empowered as a human and vitally capable we have to believe in ourselves, be very comfortable in our own skins. This might mean sorting out our shit .. and knowing where enough is enough.

Fear, doubt .. even anxiety are the enemy of confidence and power.

Everything is energy .. their are positive energies and negative energies and probably neutral energies .. and every now and then we need to run a defrag and reboot to full operating mode.

Incidently, while searching for panic attack symptoms I found some interesting info on Bach flower treatment. I'll be trying some out tomorrow, when the shops open.

I tried one of Dr. Bach's flower remedies. They are supposed to work on emotions, as the good doctor believed unhealthy emotions were at the root of dis-ease. I'm travelling north of the border next week to visit a sick relative in hospital, so I chose the potion that reflected how I feel about this.

Strangely enough, my hands haven't felt this good in weeks. I have four broken fingers. Tendonosis in both ring and little fingers.
Maybe there's a case for this homeopathy ...

I have a friend who swears by Rescue Remedy - I've tried it a couple of times, and it had no effect on me. I'm a bit cynical when it comes to throwing money at such things, but on the other hand, I swear by Airborne and am currently taking it like clockwork due to the level of cootie exposure I've experienced at work this week - and the jury is still out on whether Airborne is anything more than overpriced vitamin C.

Aww Im glad it works for you Luke and that your hands feel improved.

Ive tried it only once many years ago and didnt work for me either.

But its the same with prescription meds .. they dont work the same on everybody.

I wish I had the mentality for meditation and/or yoga, but I just don't.

I don't do discipled meditation anymore, although I do continue with the relaxation techniques I learned. Lazy yoga, I think its called. Actually my spirituality has diminished since rejoining Kevinswatch. Too much reality policing for a fantasy sci-fi fansite.
However, I do like Stephen Donaldson's form of meditation.
Instead of thinking about chakras, the One Tree and the Arch of the Rainbow work just as well. Such a pity others don't see things the same way.

I think it's very important to have an internal 'happy place' - but mine tend to act as a writing prompt rather than a cynosure for meditation.

That must be good. Sometimes I'm vaguely aware of a place, but for writing I'm a completely hopeless. I took a class once only to learn I was no writer, though I'm sure it turned me into a better reader.

While on the subject, my thoughts have been returning yet again to my impressions of the first chronicles of Thomas Covenant the Unbeliever. What was the task Stephen set, (through his main character). And if it seemed virtually impossible back then, how unlikely is it to believe in the task set out in the third and final chronicles!
I've searched the TC forums for insights to these ideas, in vain. So if anyone knows of another internet discussion board for Thomas Covenant fans, I'd be very grateful for the information. Kevinswatch is too slow.

When I'm writing for stress relief, I'm just throwing the contents of my brain onto the paper. I don't care if it's good, because it'll never be seen by another human being. That said, practice is the key (or at least one of the keys) to being a good writer, and I do sometimes get ideas that way.

Second week of January, and they're still playing Xmas music at work. There ought to be a law.
