Art, Science and the Humanities may be what drives the world forward, but it is business, trade, that keeps it turning.

Hello all,
It would be amazing if I could say I have been out in the shed playing AC the whole time, however I am able to report I played a LOT if it in the last week or more.
For mine it is a toss up between AC3 and AC Black Flag as the best. I really enjoyed the sea battles/challenges in Black Flag, but Boston was really good in AC3.
It is a seriously elegant piece of software. I discovered a glitch or two, but nothing to detract from an awesome overall game. I understand why the movie will never live up to the game.

Absolutely want no part in turning a discussion into a DT bash - he does it so well himself - but I laughed when I read the comment about his forefinger and thumb making a circle with his 3 remaining fingers sticking up as he makes a point... You forgot to mention the pursed kissing lip manoeuvre he does at the same time LOL.
Wishing everyone well.

AC3 was just cut-scene after cut-scene. I resented being made to travel across the entire map to watch a cut-scene, and then have to travel back again to watch another one. :D

I agree that there are cut scenes in all of the games, I didn't think one was worse than the other for this.
Beating all of the Man'o'wars in Black Flag got the blood pumping.

I enjoy when the chance comes along to drive my son to school. In between me being critical of the way everyone else drives in traffic , we have the best conversations.
Today he described his view on the difference between the first and second world wars, saying that the second one was like StarWars with its good versus evil Darth Vader marching through Poland and up to the Eiffel Tower, and the first one was more Indiana Jones meets SteamPunk and ends in tragedy.
He's 16. He tells me he just watched Schindlers List at school. I told him I had seen that movie once and that I could never watch it again, as it was too sad. We agreed on this.

There is a horse race in Australia today called the Melbourne Cup. I will buy $15 in sweep tickets, and watch the race. Wish me luck!

Hi Kizza, now Schindler's List! I've seen it half a dozen times over the years simply because I think it one of the truly greatest films ever made. Your lad sounds like a smart and imaginative youngster (if I may say); great to hear that you have talks in the car that work so well for both of you. Very important for his future as much as for his now! :)

Thanks Av, Noted.
Cheers Cord. I won $28 back on a $2 ticket!! The others tickets, not so good.
Peter, couldn't have said it better about the drive and time spent.
Thinking back on it now, Schindlers List was in black and white... Do you think it made it worse, in terms of the horror, or more bearable?

Interesting question. Think it went toward conveying bleakness. May have made the horror more bearable though...maybe.

Having seen it so many times I can't imagine it as other; remember also the little flashes of color in the flames and the little girl's red coat. Brilliant!

I reckon that the black and white tempers the horror and cruelty a little bit.

Of interest to me at the moment is news of a 3500 yr old sealstone.
magazine.uc.edu/editors_picks/recent_features/unearthingamasterpiece.html
A 3.5cm stone with intricate drawing. The technology used 3500 years ago to create this art was well beyond what I ever thought they would have.
It is alleged the Syrians had glass 5000 years ago.
They must have had some special kind of magnifying glass back then. If it is "bad for business" it doesn't last.

My opinion is that the black and white made that movie more bearable.

Congratulations on the ticket winning!

I agree Cord; I actually found the film to be one of hope despite the horrors unfolding in it. Schindler's story is a demonstration that even in the face of the worst atrocity humans can meet out on each other, still - even in the most flawed of us - reason can prevail and we can draw a line over which we will not cross.
