:LOLS:

Its called aging folks .. get used to it .. or alternatively up the fitness quotient 😏

I had a knee and back injury on the job .. and thought my running days were over .. but I ran a few days ago and it was ok. LOL 😂 For years Ive avoided high impact sports . But still played both basketball and volleyball up until I retired .. better than the harsh stopping and starting movements of netball.

I loved badminton actually ... thats a lot of fun. But I dont play any regular sports now weve moved. Its a small community too .. but I have been along to a yoga day here and there. Yoga is good .. especially for stretching and strengthening joints and muscle groups .. but life now is very full with physical activity.

So swings and roundabouts Cags .. there will come a time when youll have more time for yourself to do more fun physical stuff for you.

Thanks y'all.

Switched back to a clear liquid diet and kept things down today. Am seeing the surgeon for a follow up visit tomorrow. Hopefully we'll get this digestive issue worked out. I allowed myself to get too weak by not eating or drinking.

Update: Menolly had her post-surgical follow-up appointment at UW Medical Center Thursday afternoon. She'd continued to be easily fatigued, wasn't eating or drinking adequately, and was very shaky after showering in preparation for the appointment.

It took no time at all for the surgeon to assess the symptoms presented and our concerns about the progress of her recovery. She referred Menolly directly to the ER. That was about 2:30 p.m. As of 8:00, we were still in the ER. Their testing indicated that she had a low and dropping red blood cell count, along with elevated platelet and white cell counts. She is being admitted for at least overnight, but had not been assigned a room by the time she convinced me to go home.

I am posting on her behalf, since she is trying to conserve her phone battery so she can let me know of further developments and where she can be found in the hospital tomorrow. Needless to say, we had no expectation that we would be at UWMC for more than an hour or two, so she did not bring a charging cord.

Your continued Love, Light, and Song in support of her will be greatly appreciated.
Love prevails.

My phone battery is dying, but I'll post a quick update.
Yesterday I had my 10 day follow up with the reconstructive surgeon. Things had not been going too well at home, i.e., nauseau, weakness, lack of appetite, etc. By the time I finished showering before my visit, I was wiped out.
We drove in for my 1:40 appointment, and I managed to walk from car to patient room, but the medical assistant was worried about how pale I was, and my first blood pressure, taken with an oversize cuff, which is what I always use, was 87/58.
My surgeon was happy with my healing from surgery, but sent for a wheelchair to take me to emergency. I could barely sit in it; I just wanted to lie down.
Long story short, they think I have an upper GI ulcer from one of the medications they prescribed. I was given a blood tranfusion, and brought up to the leukemia ward from emergency at 2:00 am. I'll have an upper GI scope at noon, and hopefully the bleed will be found. Another blood tranfusion is expected, based on current blood draws.
Prayers and good thoughts appreciated.

I came around to say hi... I've been sparse because I'm stressin' out over this math team I'm coaching.
It's this thing I could put a near-infinite amount of time into...
I put too much time into it, but I don't, y'know, know what parts to cut.
I make mistakes... hopefully I'll be coming back up from my mistake-making.

Back and alert from the EGD scope. They did find a slightly bleeding ulcer in the duodenal loop below the stomach, as well as nonbleeding gastric ulcers in the stomach. It is believed the bleeding ulcer is healing on its own, with the stoppage of the naproxen yesterday.

I am going to have more blood draws overnight, and see if my blood counts stabilize. Another blood tranfusion may be needed today, but it is hoped after that I will stabilize and be able to go home tomorrow afternoon.

Linna, keep in mind while it is an academic competition, it is a thing to do for enjoyment. For both the students and the coaches. That really is a fundamental aspect to keep in mind.

"back and alert" sounds so good.
so glad it appears the bleeding ulcer is healing on its own.

praying for you. was afraid I'd be stuck in a place of not-praying, so I didn't say that before.

Thank you. I kind of needed to hear that.

I come from an interesting place regarding this. I worked for several years as an Administrative Assistant at the University (of Florida) Athletic Association. That's the corporation who hires and pay the athletic team coaches and staff at UF. For the paid staff, such focus and stress is expected, ; it's their jobs, after all.

However, UAA also is responsible for making certain the STUDENT athletes are students first. They try to keep them focused on a degree seeking path. They arrange tutoring for the STUDENT athletes who need it. And, they try to drill in to everyone's heads that they are serving the STUDENT, who happens to be an athlete.

Yes, the STUDENT athletes train hard, so they remain competitive. But, the staff are trained to be on the lookout for the loss of joy in their sport, or burnout in general, for the STUDENT athletes.

When it comes to academic competition, such as Math Team or Brain Bowl, as far as I understand, most of those are both played and coached by volunteers. Sure, it can help build a resume. But the spark of joy and fun in being involved must stay paramount. Otherwise, why do it?

I'm getting to go home today! I need to make all sorts of calls to schedule follow ups tomorrow, and I have additional medications to work in to my daily regimen. Plus, I'll probably still have some discomfort as my stomach and upper GI system heals. But, I get to be in my own bed tonight, woo-hoo!

Thank you all for your support, spiritually and emotionally. It is massively appreciated!

Good news Menolly.

Me, well, it's Monday, so enough said about that. :D Busy weekend running around, had to go and take my pool cue to be re-tipped as well which turned into a bit of a mission, but worth it. :D

Haha, Google actually gave us the arcade machine. :D And come to think of it, they paid for the pool table as well.

We're a digital marketing agency, and we're "Google Premier Partners" because we bring them a fair chunk of money, so they're always giving us stuff.
