Excellent! This gives me an excuse to put on Loverboy's greatest hits collection.

To remind everyone that Canada is an exporter of world-class musical drivel? From Loverboy to Celine Dion, we are a superpower in the competitive shallow pop market.

Oh, MM, that's rather harsh, isn't it? All countries have their superstars who frankly shouldn't be there.

IMO, the following Canadian musicians aren't drivel. I've enjoyed the music they released for years.

Bryan Adams
The Guess Who
BTO
Steppenwolf
Red Rider
Triumph

Paul's into more modern groups than I am, so he also enjoys:

Bare Naked Ladies
Nelly Furtado (ick from me, but that's me)
Alanis Morissette (again, ick from me)

And while I don't care for him at all, there would have been no CSNY (one of my favorites) without Neil Young. I prefer the group just as CSN, but although not listed in the very beginning, Young was a member of the group from the start.

I'll add Rush, Tea Party, and Big Wreck to that list too.

Tell you what, we could start an exchange program....You whack all the members of Loverboy, we'll whack Lenny Kravitz and three of the Backstreet Boys.

Hey, Menolly, nice to know you like Bryan Adams. I respect him a lot. He's come up with some very well-crafted songs over the years.

Red Rider? Wow, '80s memory trip...Tom Cochrane is now the "star" of the group, but I really only remember them for their little gem of a single "Human Race" off their Neruda album (I think).

Never got into Barenaked Ladies. Nelly Furtado's music means nothing to me. Alanis Morrisette...I admire her transformation from '80s teenybopper to '90s confessional rocker, but I've never really listened to her stuff.

Regarding CSNY, oddly enough they played a sold-out concert here in Winnipeg just a couple of weeks ago. Neil Young, though, got the biggest cheers, as the 'Peg was his old stomping ground.

But I'll stop all this blasphemous talk before Floyd fans here cry out for blood, heh...

Yeah, saying "Nelly Furtado" here is like speaking the Black Speech during the Council of Elrond. And hey: didn't know the Barenaked Ladies made music. Always thought it was product! Nyuk, nyuk, nyuk!

Kravitz belongs in the chipper-shredder.

I used to really, really love Red Rider. Great underrated band.

And Pink Floyd kicks ass!

come on, the guy can wear womens furs, and NOT look gay!!! 8O Steven Tyler couldn't even pull that off completely, neither can that Black Crows guy, heh.....

 props:
  • Kravitz plays guitar, bass, drums, piano, saxophone, trumpet and sitar. He usually plays all the instruments on each recorded track.....

Having taught himself bass, piano, guitar, and drums at an early age and developed his singing voice in the California Boys Choir and the Metropolitan Opera, he attended Beverly Hills High School and performed under the artist name, Romeo Blue. At that stage, he was heavily influenced by Prince. His parents were friends with jazz greats Duke Ellington, Sarah Vaughan, Count Basie, Ella Fitzgerald, Bobby Short, and Miles Davis so he grew up in a musical household although he would pursue a career in rock rather than jazz.
